Apparently theyā€™ve donated and helped a lot of people, and theyā€™ve been doing this for a very long time.

I understand people want to hate on Activision or Blizzard or Kotick, but they do a lot of good work.

I was thinking of getting it cause it reminds of Argos from FF14, but then I also wanna have McDonalds tomorrow cause theyā€™re releasing a limited edition burger and I wanna treat myself. I mean I could do bothā€¦

Iā€™ll wait for the dog to be on the store separately, thanks.

Does blizz normally announce / make public the final $$$ totals at the end of a charity promotion?

Curious what the total would be.

Or how well previous charity pets have done.

They have for every past fundraiser except for the Doctors without Borders one

True thanks.

If itā€™s 25$ it would take 40,000 to hit $1,000,000

I wonder if that would be considered a small amount or large amount compared to previous ones.

We know doctors without borders hit 1 million.

Looks like at least $1.9 Million for the Tsunami in Japan

$2.3 Million for Hurricane Sandy

Oh wow and those were only $10, thatā€™s pretty decent numbers to hit 1-2 mil.

A lot of us canā€™t afford a $25 donation. And a lot of us do not, and will never play Classic WoW. Remember the days ofa $12.50 donation pet? Iā€™d of bought the ā€œSunnyā€ Pet. But I just canā€™t afford $25 to donate, and especially not worth it for 1 digital pet

will this pet be forever-exclusive to this particular promotion or will there be some type of means to obtain it in the future? not going to comment on the merits of this particular charity but it feels crappy to tie this kind of thing into politically-charged issues regardless of where you land on whatever the specific cause-of-the-day is

edit - separate from the above, itā€™d also be nice to have a way to obtain only the retail side of this, or vice-versa without having to pay for both. some people donā€™t play and have no desire to play the classic or retail side

According to the store page, the pets are only available for this charity drive:

Pet Pack for Ukraine is available from the shop until August 29, 2023, 10:00 AM PDT. These versions of pets are special editions available as a part of this initiative only.

So we might see recolors of the dog in the future, but this particular version is only from this charity drive.

And Iā€™d like to take a moment to reiterate that thereā€™s nothing political about helping people.

The charity is a great thing to help people suffering

Plus Iā€™m sure the dog being cute brought in a fair few people as well

What constructive matters would there even be to discuss? Afaik the charity is focused on rebuilding and helping those struck by war in ukraine and as far as Iā€™m aware doesnā€™t fund the war itself. This is pretty cut and dry stuff, thereā€™s some whining about it not being some other charity someone would prefer but thatā€™s about it.
