I mean, if I can get the green LFR sets with the Mythic cosmetic effects by doing Keystones… sign me up. My only reservation is that this does seem to be something added to capitalize on FOMO (ie. you only get access to the boring versions of the set if you do it post-season). But honestly, I don’t blame them for wanting people to play content while it’s current, and this isn’t the most intrusive way to add that pressure.
Very interesting. From what I’m reading, the Mythic armor still has the effects innately, but this would add them to lower-tier sets? That would mean that mog farmers in future expansions would get the fancy Mythic armor but people doing current content can show off the effects on other sets. I’m cool with this.
I think this is a good balance on the scale between FOMO and evergreen content. There still exists an impetus for doing the content while current, but it isn’t leaving a gap once the season is over and the super casuals move in.
Anyone that uses “FOMO” or “Gatekeeping” loses any credibility they have.
Why? It’s just a term for a way to incentivize doing current content.
Using the term isn’t a statement of support or opposition. It just is what it is.
I could say “developer reliance on retention mechanisms which rely on providing a real or illusory impression of time-limited availability.” But that would be overly voluminous and pretentious.
If you want to speak about the issues of the day, use the language that is being used to discuss these specific trends.
Neat. I assume it will work for any difficulty’s color, since it doesn’t say anything to the contrary.
Blizz should add them to Trial of Style to be used with older tier sets as well.
Careful. That’s the same assumption that got us the whole Slime Cat controvery.
Potentially very interesting
I actually hope this is FOMO. I think Mythic Raiders have been kind of screwed in terms of cosmetics for some time. Mythic Mounts get reduced to 1% drop-rate but the mogs are still there able to be farmed. Having a FOMO-component of the mogs to maintain their prestige is pretty neat without completely removing the transmog farming aspect for players who lag behind multiple expansions as solo-only players.
Although I will say there’s some kind of weird irony that the Heroic version with the Mythic particle system layered over having more prestige than the Mythic version is kind of odd.
A solution to the “I love this particle effect but I hate that color” problem!
It’s for completing one of the following: KSM, Elite: Dragonflight Season 1, or Mythic.
It’s always cool to have elite incentives.
Hmm. Part of me feels it should just be red/blue for our factions. Just wanted to unplug that from my chest.
Ew, no, factions are dead content.
Yeah, they say account wide so like, I’ll be curious if are they incentivizing you to do it on 4 different characters?
We’re still in elven waters. There’s a new chance high elves will conflict with blood elves.
What? Nah it looks to me like you earn that item and it unlocks the cosmetic effect for all tier sets worn by any characters on your account (for that tier, at least).
I sincerely doubt that’s a fact that will be relevant. The Isles are well away from the Sunwell.
It’s a made up term used as a war cry to complain about the game.
It doesn’t exist. If someone has a legitimate fear of missing out they need to seek professional help.
It’s just a phrase, bud. Don’t overthink it.
