**SEPTEMBER 2 UPDATE** ———————————
There is a new blue post today and they are finally acknowledging the “fix” previously implemented didn’t give sparks to all characters who were short, and they’re close to working a new solution. Fingers crossed.
———————**end update** ————————
The missing Spark of Tides issue is still not fixed, and Blizzard Support needs to stop telling players that it is.
Before I even get into my own situation and the support tickets I’ve submitted, here is a compendium of threads about Spark bugs, missing Sparks, incorrect Spark totals, and players who are still missing Sparks as of today (August 29th) after Blizzard’s supposed fix:
- 204+ posts: Tidal Spark Dust Bug - Showing 4/4 When Only Received 2/4 Sparks
- 108+ posts: Fixing Misplaced Sparks of Tides - August 25
- 88+ posts: 4/4 Tidal Spark Dust Bug

- 4+ posts: Two out of three Sparks quests bugged
- 2+ posts: New Sparks bug
- 2+ posts: 5/5 Tidal Spark Dust but only 3/5 Spark of Tides
That is 620+ posts across these threads alone. Imagine how many more characters are affected that just haven’t posted about it yet.
So when Customer Support tells players that the missing Sparks issue has been resolved and affected players have already been fixed, there is a pretty obvious problem with that statement.
My affected character is Int-Kil’Jaeden. My currency tab shows 5/5 Sparks. I have only actually received 3 total. I crafted a weapon on August 18th that cost 2 Sparks. I currently have 1 Spark in my bags.
The math is simple. I received 3 instead of 5, spent 2, and have 1 left. If I had actually received the 5 Sparks the game says I earned, I would have 3 remaining.
I am missing 2 Sparks.
I have submitted several tickets about this, and somehow Blizzard Support has gone from acknowledging that this is a real bug to repeatedly telling me that it has been fixed, that my character was already “healed,” and that the previous GM was correct.
They were not correct. My character is still missing the Sparks.
My first ticket was answered by GM 티니아리 about a week ago. This response actually acknowledged the issue:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Blizzard Support.First, I’d like to apologize for the delay in getting back to you. We appreciate your patience while we work through a higher than usual volume of contacts.
I understand your concern regarding the Spark of Tides issue.
At this time, we are aware of reports from multiple players experiencing problems with Spark rewards. Some players have reported not receiving Sparks from quests that list them as rewards, while others have received fewer Sparks than expected despite the game indicating a higher amount was granted.
Our development team is currently investigating these reports to determine the cause of the issue and whether any fixes or additional actions may be required. You can follow updates on this known issue.
While the investigation is ongoing, Blizzard Customer Support is unfortunately unable to grant Sparks, manually provide quest rewards, or adjust character progress related to this issue. I realize this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but we’re unable to intervene until the developers have completed their investigation and provided further guidance.
If you have experienced this issue yourself, we encourage you to submit a bug report. Additional reports help provide developers with more examples and data during the investigation.
To submit an in-game bug report:
Open the Game Menu (Esc)
Select Support
Select Submit Feedback or Bug Report
Choose the Submit a Bug tab
Enter the details of your reportPlayers with Americas region World of Warcraft accounts may also submit reports through the official Bug Report Forum.
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/support/bug-report/17
We also recommend keeping an eye on the official World of Warcraft news page, where hotfixes and issue updates are regularly posted.
Thank you for your understanding and patience while this issue is being reviewed. We hope to have more information available as soon as the investigation progresses.
Take care, and we wish you the very best in Azeroth.
Kind regards,
Blizzard Support
Three days later, I responded and told them I still had not received my missing Sparks despite completing all of the content required to earn them.
The next day, GM Taishemara marked the ticket as answered and sent this:
Hello there,
I am Game Master Taishemara.
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the missing Spark(s).
These issues are currently under investigation by the developer team. The latest update is, that they started healing up players who are missing sparks.
IMPORTANT: This will happen in waves, so everybody eligible should receive their sparks within the next few days. Some already received them, others should be in one of the next waves. More information can be found here:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/fixing-misplaced-sparks-of-tides-august-25/2341043
The customer support team is sadly not able to provide the spark or hand out quest rewards. For now, you need to wait for the developers to investigate the issue and decide if this is a bug and how it will be handled. That means we sadly can’t adjust or give you Sparks, as much as we would love to help.
Should you feel you are eligible and you have not received sparks after a few days please bug report it again:
Reporting a bug in-game
Go to the Game Menu (Esc key by default)
Select Support
Select Submit feedback or bug report
Select the Submit a bug tab and enter your reportFor players who have an Americas region WoW account, if you encounter a bug, you can also report it on our World of Warcraft® Bug Report https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/support/bug-report/17 forum. This forum is only available in English and only available to Americas region accounts.
That way the developers have more data and examples available.
I would also recommend keeping an eye on https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/news where the developers post bug and hotfixes every other day with further information.
I hope you have a great day, and I wish you all the best.
So I waited. I still did not receive the Sparks.
Two days ago I responded again and said:
Still have not received missing Sparks. Shows 5/5, only received a total of 3. I crafted a weapon last week which cost 2 sparks, I have 1 in bag. Character is Int-Kil’Jaeden. Fix this. Stop sending AI slop responses.
Blizzard then marked the ticket as resolved, and GM Rainmithwen sent me this:
Greetings,
Thank you for following up regarding the issue with Sparks of Tide.
We’d like to clarify that the information provided to you by the previous GM was correct. The issues involving missing Sparks, incorrect Spark totals, and players not being healed following the initial bugs have been resolved.
To reiterate, affected players have been healed, and no further action is required on your account. If you currently have fewer than 5 Sparks, which is the current cap, your account is in catch-up mode. You will continue to receive Sparks through eligible end-game activities as normal until you have caught up.
Please be aware that Customer Support cannot manually grant, restore, or add Sparks to an account. Sparks must be earned through the normal in-game systems, and CS is unable to provide an alternative method or make an exception.
If you believe you are still experiencing an issue related to Sparks of Tide that is different from the issues described above, please report the issue as a bug through the appropriate in-game bug reporting tools. When submitting a report, please include as much relevant information as possible, such as what you were doing when the issue occurred, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and any other details that may help the development team investigate.
Customer Support is unable to investigate, verify, or manually correct individual accounts for potential ongoing bugs, nor can we manually grant Sparks as a resolution. Reporting the issue through the appropriate bug-reporting channel is the best way to ensure it can be reviewed by the team responsible for investigating game issues.
As an additional precaution, we are reviewing all of these issues again to ensure that affected players have been properly identified and that the fixes are working as intended. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we worked to resolve these issues.
We are also continuing to review these issues as an additional precaution to ensure that affected players have been properly identified and that the fixes are working as intended.
At this point, the information previously provided by the GM remains the correct resolution, and Customer Support is unable to take any additional action regarding your Sparks.
We appreciate your understanding and patience.
That is not true. My character was not “healed” (what does that even mean? Seems like a bad translation).
They also tell me:
“If you currently have fewer than 5 Sparks, which is the current cap, your account is in catch-up mode.”
Again, this completely misses the issue.
My currency tab already says 5/5. I am not behind on earning Sparks. The game says I earned 5 and only gave me 3. The catch-up system cannot give me Sparks that the game already thinks I received.
After that, I opened an entirely new ticket and explained everything again in detail. I included my character name, the amount earned, the amount actually received, what I crafted, when I crafted it, the previous ticket responses, and the fact that many other players are still reporting the same problem.
Less than two hours later, the same GM, Rainmithwen, closed that ticket too. I received the same copy/paste response again telling me that the previous GM was correct and that the issue had already been resolved.
At this point, what exactly are we supposed to do?
Blizzard Support originally acknowledged this exact issue:
“Others have received fewer Sparks than expected despite the game indicating a higher amount was granted.”
That is exactly what happened to me. Players were told to wait for the “healing waves”, so I waited. My character was never fixed. Now Support is telling me the bug is resolved, that I was already healed, and that I am simply in catch-up mode. None of that is true.
I am asking Blizzard to acknowledge that the fix did not catch everyone and investigate the characters that are still affected.
Stop closing tickets as resolved when they are not resolved. Stop telling players they were “healed” when they were not. Stop calling this “catch-up mode” when the currency tab already shows the missing Sparks as earned. And stop responding to detailed tickets with the same copy/paste answer while insisting that “the previous GM was correct.”
I have submitted multiple tickets. I have provided the character, dates, exact numbers and math. There are now 620+ posts across the threads linked above discussing Spark problems, including players continuing to report the exact same missing-Sparks issue after the supposed fix.
The problem is still not fixed.
Own the mistake and fix it.
