The human seedling quest as well as the infested bear quest in / around Silverpine Forest is just… shudder
I also don’t like honey-comb holes in a body. The visual is just… yeah. I can’t.

How could they fix this though? People have so many different ones.
FOR ME; I am terrified of spiders in real life but in game ones do not bother me.
My biggest anxiety/fear in game comes from deep water/oceans. I can’t stand the sharks. Like I know even when my character out gears a zone and could 1 shot the sharks they can’t hurt me, so I don’t know why they scare me, but they do! I feel they sneak up and attack me.
Yeah that 1 zone in Cata, Vashj’ir or whatever, that zone was awful for me to level through. So for me, they’d have to remove all the sharks or turn them into something harmless
I’m claustrophobic and don’t ask that WoW doesn’t have tunnels and close spaces for my sake. Then again, the game hasn’t ever made me feel claustrophobic, movies have though. In my experience, it’s easier for me do deal with my phobia than to ask others to.
I mean, Satisfactory replaces the spiders in it’s game with a 2d sprite of a glitched out cat iirc?
Hmm maybe.
That is some problematic phrasing there bub, also, your statement about most of them being harmless is 100% dependant on where you live.
Where I live you have to bang out/shake out any foot wear before using in the morning to ensure you don’t run the risk of brown recluses which, won’t really kill you but will give you necrosis as they almost always carry the bacterium that cause Necrotizing Fasciitis so yeah…healthy reason to be not okay with spiders
No one is asking for the game to be designed around them. Just have checkboxes for some to change animals into something else. The game already does this with the Corgi glasses.
I addressed this later in the thread:
Taking my phobia of deep water, right? My phobia is just as valid as someone else’s. Should a check box be put in the game to make it so deep water quests are somehow bypassed for me, or encounters are bypassed for me? What about the second boss in Azshara’s palace. I have to suck up my phobia of super deep water in order to successfully do that encounter, right?
The answer to all of this is no, a special setting should not be made for me. It’s unreasonable.
Well I get your problem. I wanted to say something but I realized that I hate to see or read anything about doctors and deadly diseases. Like when someone says that he lost someone because of something I just turn around. Reason I’m not on social media because they love to push stuff like that so people would get worried. So wen you said you are afraid even seeing on screens I get you. I hate even to read certain words, and hate with passion when I see media pushing and promoting it.
I really understand, I live in Australia so spiders are a big part of every day reality here. I have arachnophobia but not so bad that I can’t handle them in-game. I have the spider mount but don’t use it because I know some people have really bad arachnophobia and I empathise!
My biggest fear is a spider in my car when I’m driving, so I watch a lot of spider videos to help if that ever happens, and here in Australia, I don’t know a SINGLE PERSON who has never had a huge huntsman in their car, so it’s not an ‘if’ situation, it’s a ‘when’, and I do NOT want to crash my car! (Which sadly happens a lot here because of spiders.)
So I try to watch a spider video every day!
Good luck, if you have the luxury to avoid spiders that’s awesome, and maybe Blizz can do some more to help people with phobias. ![]()
Is what if the greatest phobia were the friends we made along the way?
No one asked for that.
Some can absolutely be addressed. As I mentioned. So no, you didn’t address what I said. And I still stand by it.
Your answer isn’t important. It’s not like you’re calling the shots here.
OP is asking for a completely optional feature to help with fear. Your attempt to shut down their idea is kind of hateful.
A toggle for some common phobias would be cool. I’m lucky to not have any phobias so I can only imagine the struggle for those with more serious cases of it.
I’d say look for or make an addon but Blizzard banned anything that changes models because people and bots abused things like TMorph or whatever it was called.
You’d think the OP asked for someone’s first born with some of the responses though…
*edit - wow the number of people with Arachnophobia seems to be way higher than I realized. Numbers vary a lot from source to source, but the lowest I saw was 3-6% and another place saying as many as 100 million Americans claim to have it.
I was expecting maybe 1%, 2 tops.
Probably. I don’t go through life trying not to be problematic. I have my own standards and if you meet them, I like you and am concerned with your needs - but if you don’t, I don’t like you, and am not concerned with your needs. I favor authentic, self-aware individuals who demonstrate either courage or fearlessness, and who present themselves as an entity worthy of attention.
I support policies that cultivate a good game for myself and those sorts of people.
If we start editing out spiders for arachnophobes, we need to nerf mage tower because challenges can be scary, too.
I don’t give a dump what you think of me, you’re basically calling me a coward over the way my brain is wired.
I’m asking for a optional toggle not a newborn.
You seem extremely inconsiderate and nasty and your ego is doing you no favors. You may think it does, but it don’t.
Overall not a good look.
That’s good. You shouldn’t give a crap what anyone thinks of you.
Not exactly. I probably don’t like you due to the way your brain is wired, but I don’t like neurotypicals either. If you aren’t a really specific sort of neurotype, you’re just not going to be my cup of tea. That’s not a loss for you. You’d probably hate me. lol I’m not for everyone either.
Blizzard will make that call, not me. I just don’t support the idea because I don’t like it. I don’t want my kids to be able to turn off their fears. I want them to have to deal with them. This option would be available to them, too. I find that concerning.
I clearly do not care what you think of me, as you “don’t give a dump what [I] think of [you]”, so go forth and enjoy your opinion of me in peace.
I have never made any attempt to look good. If you do not like the way I look, turn your eyes in a different direction.
Meh I wouldn’t get upset with Shreds. He’s like a edgy teenager who thinks he’s unique.
His posts are usually pretty obnoxious and not a lot of people care for him. That’s why he is angry with life.
I have arachnophobia myself and it’s not a common thing to have the models in games get changed.
I couldn’t finish Metro Exodus in spite of loving the series because of the same problem and no I’m not looking for anything in particular just an option to change spiders to anything else.
I appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts and stories. Some are pretty inspiring. I do try and cope but it isn’t easy. I have done exposure therapy and it hasn’t worked out to well for me.
I don’t consider fighting a giant spider in a game I love exposure therapy.
Like I said before I have my way around things. But a simple toggle would allow me to enjoy the game more.
Apparently this makes me a coward, weak, snowflake etc.
If I could control the direction my brain goes when exposed I would.
Thank you all who have taken up for me here and supported the completely optional accessibility feature. I’ve really been impressed with Blizzard as far as how much effort they’re putting towards accessibility and I think this would be a welcome OPTIONAL feature for a lot of people.
