Housing has been really fun to creatively make something our own. Seeing other’s creativity and usage of objects to build mechs, vehicles and homes has been outstanding! But it is limited by the decor that is available. And here’s my criticism; old dungeons and raids are devoid of potential decor.
There are a handful old world dungeons that have one decor item, usually held by the last boss, that becomes tedious if the player wants more than one. Looking at you Blackrock Depths, eighteen bosses and only a hanging lamp. Running around and buying decor is one thing, but there are twenty other dungeons in vanilla that have nothing, which feels like a missed opportunity for players to get some decor that doesn’t cost them gold, just time.
Endeavors are decent source of racial nick knacks, but I was hoping for a shopping list of dungeons I’d be hitting this summer to flesh out my homes. Flora from Diremaul, books and bones from Scholomance, gadgets from Gnomeregan.
Maybe Blizzcon will announce more decor gathering options, but it has been over six months and they have been sparing with the decor drops and I don’t think any older expansions has gotten any since Housings release.

One problem with older art assets is that most of the stuff from before ~Cataclysm will just look bad compared to anything from the past decade. Like, the Ironforge Fencpost is one of my favorite items in the system (makes good floor grating and wall detail), but even I will acknowledge that those textures really struggle to hold up.
But yeah, there’s a ton of stuff they could add, it’s just a matter of “will they actually do it.” But honestly, it wouldn’t really bother me >that< much if they chose to mostly focus on new stuff. Like…giving us more trees from this expansion’s zones.

I had the same hope, my friend. I had the same.

Sad but true.
There are some that you simply cant scale up. Others that if you want it to look good? scale down..

I think finding items in dungeons would be a great way to restore archaeology and tie it into housing…
You’re in a dungeon and see an item with its glowing effect. You pick it up and have to find out its origins by talking to NPCs (Dragonscale Expedition, Brann Bronzebeard, Harrison Jones, etc…). Once you do, you get the decor item, some archaeology points, and housing experience. Maybe in one run you find an ancient Zandalari vase. in another, it is a Vulpera sleeping mat., etc…

I love the idea. I like that the Arcantina quests take you back to old areas.
But I think that most of the old dungeon and raid stuff was put there for the Early Access time period and so, one piece of decor. So, no, they won’t go back and redesign the older content for housing, housers? house players.
