You dad was just lucky. Most fathers would stop beating their wife after promising not to three thousand times but they’re unlucky and they kill them after promising one or two thousand times.
Isn’t that why Bibles are written? To fool people about your true intentions?
Their point is “I don’t have to respond to some nobody that messages me, that doesn’t make me a bot”
To which I agree, however it’s not the end-all-be-all of determining someone’s status as a bot. There have been bots that respond to whispers since 2008.
I’m trying to get across that it’s more than a single step in the process of determination, which they seem to be missing completely. It’s exceptionally clear that they are stuck in the mindset of that being the sole factor in me wanting them to get people suspended or banned over, which couldn’t be further from the truth.
If you actually read my responses without the cloud in your judgement you would realize that.
But, what ya gonna do? People make assumptions and it is true that I came into this conversation knowing that Owns was being hostile. Oh well, it is what it is.
Lies.
And you are repeating your old mistakes. You had 12 million + players. Then you step by step removed the world in world of warcraft. All those mechanics … the hard game. It kept many playing.
Now its just pay to win.
You screw over us that played back in 2005-2010 that desperately wants that great old experience back. The game where accomplishments actually meant something. A game with integrity. Not f-ing pay to win.
The best way to get that experience is, sadly, pservers. ¯\ (°_o)/¯
Blizz forgot who they were competing against for players… again.
I used to fish with my UI turned off and my camera turned in a way to make the bauble larger and easier to click. I’d fish like this while watching streams for a couple hours sometimes.
What a nice authoritarian system you propose. I get banned because I don’t answer a message I can’t see.
Appeal system only works with evidence. What is the GM evidence that I was botting going to be? “He was fishing and didn’t respond to me, so I banned him.” What is my defense to that going to be? How am I going appeal that?
Lol Blizzard, are you for real?
Are you really trying to justify your greed for money with a reasoning that allegedly involves good intentions?
I mean, you could just say you want more money and everyone would be mad, but not as mad as you can get after reading such ridiculous post.
Just say you saw that holiday season with the last patch release filled with tons of awesome token money and you couldn’t let that opportunity go to waste. It was easier than this nonsense.
Thanks for the Transparency on the change. I personally think the addition is great, I can now pay for my WoW sub with my WoW addiction. Both my friends that are a lot more casual are excited about being able to buy some gold without fear of scams. If anyone from Blizzard reads this I think a lot of the critism you guys are met with on every decision is the lack of communication (not this specific issue just overall).
PSA: I won’t be following this or replies to it I honestly just wanted to provide feedback.
Thing is, if the company permaban but the ivnestigation was wrong, in many countries outside US the company can be sued and pay a big fine. Banning bots is ez, banning buyers is almost impossible.
Reality is that blizzard cant objectively and factualy prove someone bought gold unless the gold buyer himself provides this info or you get an actual police force involved and good luck with that lmao.
You can permaban in a private server but an official one bound to legal status? Whole different story.
Absolute clown fiesta of a company. You’ll implement wow tokens in Wrath, a feature that was NEVER IN WRATH, but yet RDF, a feature that was IN WRATH is still nowhere to be seen.
What an absolute joke. I hope this works out in the worst way possible for you. You’ll add someting to line your own pockets, but a feature to help players play the game? NEVER, ITS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE CLASSIC COMMUNITY BUT HEY WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY SOME GOLD FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE OF $20?!
You know what else is a tool, just one of many? RDF. Add it already. Sick of this nonsense. Add RDF, leave the embarrassing group finder failure in place for H+ groups and make H+ worth doing so the group finder has a purpose.
They are banning like 5K accounts per day.
You think having a manual process would be faster???
I recommend publishing numbers on how many accounts get banned for exploiting the economy/botting/RMT weekly so I have somewhere to point to when defending you from the people that say “Blizzard does not care about bots” “bots are paying customers for Blizzard” “Blizzard could get rid of all the bots today if they wanted to” “They could hire my little brother to be a GM for $13 an hour to spectate and ban botters” etc.
You have a perception issue. People take your silence on its face value and assume nothing is being done.
Put out posts that explain how botters aren’t beneficial for Blizzard. My perception is that these people aren’t paying $15 a month to access the servers because that would significantly cut into their margins, but I don’t have any evidence to back up my suspicions. If you explained it to us, we would know.
I support the wow tokens because it gives players a way to play the game for free, and it undermines the bad actor RMT’ers. However, it does kind of take my immersion out of WoW when you can now buy infinite gold legitimately and it gives me concerns about the future unknown ramifications of this step.
If you introduced the token purely out of your love to the community (I can’t stop laughing while typing this) and not due to your ever growing greed, just publicly donate all the money you earn from the token to charity.
I have my doubts though, Bobby needs his sixth yacht.
Why are GDKPs allowed? It’s pretty obvious to everybody that the majority of RMTs are fueled by these “raids”.
If blizzard truly believes that this is “For the Good of the Game” then take blizzard’s cut off the price.
Make a token exactly the same price as a 1 month sub, if thats your goal.
If it isn’t then you aren’t being honest about your intentions and blizzard is just seeing another revenue source, now being covered by illicit services.
Genuine question I’ve always wondered about about this issue: why isn’t the penalty for buying gold steeper? Of course you’re going to have an insane RMT market when there is no consequence to the players buying it. It seems like you’ve only been fighting one half of the battle: the bots, and not the other half: the players buying the gold. You say that you can never eliminate the demand for RMT, but I don’t see how that would be true if there had been years of precedent established that RMT would result in permanent account closure.
I think there’s zero chance the core WoW Classic team was happy about having to do this, and I get the distinct sense that Kaivax hated having to write this.
So, I don’t know who specifically at Blizzard upper management needs to hear this, but the appropriate response to gold buying/selling is permanently banning the people who participate in this behavior, not legalizing it and making it more accessible than ever with the tacit intention of profiting it.
Some fights are worth fighting, no matter how hopeless.
In my view, Wrath is the first step of retail and I stopped after completing Ulduar. My biggest concern with the addition of the token to Wrath was that they would attempt to put p2w in era and the upcoming seasons.
After reading this post I feel like they at least understand the era/season player base is different than the retail players and do NOT want p2w in their game.
Going forward I hope the community and its managers understand what GDKP’s do to a game and how they encourage rmt, increase bot activity and undermine the over “spirit of classic”. I do not pretend to speak for others but, for me, I appreciate the communication and hope they keep p2w in retail and away from era and subsequent seasons.
Cheers!
The mental gymnastics required to support this decision as being for the playerbase are unreal.
You give us something that we didn’t ask for (WoW Token) but won’t give us something that we ask for everyday… (Random Dungeon Finder)… that makes sense.
