Ive been trying to raid consistently and higher with my guild and so 2 weeks ago I switched to MM, the damage wasnt an issue but how much I had to move around to literally survive and so MM was much more comfortable but less fun.
What are your thoughts on the incoming buffs to the spec? Is it worth it going back? The focus starvation in MM is bad and without double tap it might be rip for me.
It won’t bring them out of the darkest they are in. Don’t get me wrong I love survivial, it’s my guilty pleasure but right now BM is dominating single target, and Marks is crushing aoe. Even with these buffs, surivial will be a jack of all trades and a master of none. Serious raiders won’t raid with it, although you may see a few in mythic + but I can’t imagine why when you have Marks for better AOE and BM for better single.
I tend to think this was intentional as it feels at least that Blizzard really doesn’t want the melee hunter spec being the dominant spec. They want hunter to stay range in my opinion. I think survival is there for pvp and memes really…
Tier lists are subjective, but don’t make the mistake thinking Survival is always ranked at the bottom of tier lists because it supposedly has poor damage.
Survival buffs and MM nerfs just means i will unsub cause i dont wanna be forced to play Survival in PVP. Im expecting survival to tower above the other 2 specs once the double tap removal has gone through.
The buffs are pretty sweet and will help a little bit, however we still don’t have raid utility and MM/BM is just better in all pve content atm. I would rather they rework talents like they did to other classes/specs so the spec can bring utility (outside of pvp) as well as dmg.
Except they aren’t because Survival has the same utility as the other Hunter specs, is melee (which is generally better for M+), and does more ST/AoE than a few of the specs it’s listed below, and yet it’s last.
It’s pretty much 100% up to performance in most tier lists.
If you want a different perspective check out Marcelian’s tier list where he ranks them by design and (subjective) enjoyability. He’s even a big fan of Survival. Oops, he ranked it C tier…
This is because, being a Hunter, its defensive capability is extremely weak. The problem is the other Hunter specs are at least ranged, whereas SV is melee and needs to be in the thick of it for its full damage potential. So unless you’re getting broken 9.2 levels of damage it’s pointless to bring the spec.
