The old gods were the original masters of Azeroth. Basically they were here first and created a country.
Then the Titans came after seeing Azeroth has a world soul of a Titan. The Titans invaded the country and imprisoned the rightful masters of our world, the Old Gods, away and illegally annexed the country and called it Kalimdor. Afterwards, they spread propaganda that the Old Gods were evil and were corrupting the world soul.
Even if the corrupting part was not propaganda, the Titans had no right to stop the Old Gods. Maybe this is just what the Old Gods do, what right did the Titans have to stop them?
It’s like if the leaders of Earth all agreed to corrupt the soul of Earth, what right does some cosmic beings from outer space who don’t even live on Earth have to question our politics?
The Titans basically interfered in Azeroth’s politics and invaded the people who lived there (e.g., Old Gods) and illegally annexed their country through conquest and imprisoned the native people of Azeroth.
Sargeras is evil, the destroyer of worlds and is a Titan. The Pantheon vs Sargeras is just Titan civil war, Evil vs Evil, the enemy of my enemy does not mean that they are good.
They programmed Algalon the Observer to destroy all life on Azeroth if they detect signs of corruption. That is basically Arthas’ “this entire city must be purged” turned into “this entire world must be purged”. If Arthas was evil, then the Titans are even more evil, for purging the innocent farmers of Stormwind at any sign of corruption.
The titans have an idea of order which requires their rules be obeyed or else
The old gods did it the old fashioned way: there is no or else, you are dominated and obey the rules whether you want to or not. Should your struggle rise to the attention of anyone that cares, you are erased.
Like real life, nobody really has any free will here. We are debating the merits of two forms of slavery.
I wouldn’t necessarily say they’re “evil” – I’d merely argue they’re more on the lines of ‘immoral’ in retrospect of their goals.
Overall, I’d say they’re morally grey – Yet will play out as our opposition in times ahead, due to the conflict arisen from their desires & plans for our world.
Okay then Mr.DefinatelyNotTwilightsHammer?
Idk, maybe the corruption of the world soul into bringing about the Void Lords into the great dark beyond, acting as a permanent tether & anchor to the physical plane and then going about to wash about the infinite cosmos in darkness & potential despair? … Idk just a thought …
I wouldn’t say that they’re evil so much as they’re self-interested. Sometimes those interests align with ours, sometimes they don’t.
But that’s the thing we must always remember about Powers. Whether we’re talking about Titans, Old Gods, Naaru, Loa, or what-have-you, they don’t have friends, they have interests. And the correct policy with all of them is to trust none, be polite to all, keep your back to the wall, and leave the party early.
Good and Evil depend on perspective.
To an ant, the boot is evil. To the person wearing the boot, it’s just an ant!
You also have to take into account our limited information surrounding the Titans, the Old Gods and the Void. Basically we’ve been deceived, but we don’t know why we’ve been deceived.
