This latest Classic survey

Why does it matter? No one talks to anyone now and everyone treats everyone else like garbage anyway. This would be no different.

This is a great example of Blizzardā€™s problem. They have always had the mindset of trying to appeal to everyone. That strategy is what led to current retail and it is clear that a huge group of people simply do not want to play retail.

Now instead of picking a direction, they are now checking to see if itā€™s worth it to fragment the player base even further by having 3 platforms of WoW to maintain.

All of this is an attempt to not really create any new content, but just appease enough of you to continue to pay that monthly sub.

A lot of that survey that went out is really vague.

They doubled their subs in Aug 2019 for a reason. People really enjoyed the original game. So instead of thinking of ways around creating content for the original game, they should have spent the last two years making content for the game putting it in after p6. They should have just added it and not asked you what you thought. I guarantee you they would have retained a large majority of their subs if they would have injected some mystery back into WoW.

Instead they continue to ask you rubes what you want via email and at their convention. Most you donā€™t know what you want, outside of what you think you donā€™t have.

I know this much, if they do any of that stuff to Classic Vanilla, Iā€™m out permanently.

Because ever since Blizzard put CRZ into the game itā€™s like being surrounded by NPCs. Then thereā€™s that weird loading thing when you get to the next zone with new CRZ and totally different people. So you arenā€™t just randomly running into the same people going from 1-60 in the world, which is the Classic experience. itā€™s totally different people all the time.

Pretty much nobody makes friends in Retail with the cross-realm strangers they randomly come across. You never expect to see them again. You canā€™t join each others guilds etc either.

The second problem is there is no server community in Retail and CRZ is part of the cause. The server is irrelevant. Yes, itā€™s not just CRZ but all those other things Khlause listed. Itā€™s still part of it.

Now I will agree CRZ could work with an extremely low population, which is possible/likely with Classic Era where any sort of server community no longer exists and now it is just a singular ā€œbigā€ server community of PVP, PVE and RP ish servers. Thatā€™s not CRZ making anything better though thatā€™s just because the population is small enough for CRZ to not harm the experience as much, unlike in Retail where it has never once been a positive thing.

Some posters on lower pop servers have said that they donā€™t want to be on a big server. CRZ basically forces a bigger server experience.

The survey seems to be talking more about connected realms which I also donā€™t like but itā€™s basically a needed server merger that has to be done. So Iā€™ve always said Iā€™m ok with that.

Thatā€™s my opinion on it. If you think CRZ is the best thing theyā€™ve ever put into WoW thatā€™s fine.

This is not true in my experience. Most people in the world are not toxic to each other for the most part. You do have the one place (BGs) where people are toxic nasty jerks to each other all the time though in pugs because of what is essentially CRZ. This is why Iā€™m not a big fan of BG pugs.

your server is better than mine then!

try to twist it all you want but gamers today are not the same sort of people they were 15 years ago. Gamers today are the type of people to SWAT someone because they headshot them in call of dutyā€¦

Iā€™m fine with CRZ on dead realms. No need to implement on larger ones but if they donā€™t do it people will complain that Blizzard owes them free transfers. This is essentially a free server migration. As long as phasing doesnā€™t come with it I see it as a solution to dead realms.

They are trying to figure out ways to keep taking your money or how to take more of it. That is the sole reason Activision does anything. As a stockholder this is understandable and desired. As a gamer it is depressing.

I donā€™t understand why they have to create classic era realms of every current realmā€¦ just create 2 of each type pve/pvp/rpā€™s and if you want to continue classic era you choose one of those as your destination. Why carry forward problems you donā€™t have to?

CRZ is not an acceptable solution.

From my side I would like classic fresh and classic+ for current toons

oh yes, itā€™s definitely meā€¦ /sarcasm

Yall know surveys are meant to measure interest and not exactly what is in right? I mean you do know that right?

First of all, not having Classic only servers is dumb. Blizzard is dumb.

That being said, if done right, these ā€œClassic+ā€ could prove to be very interesting. Imagine having to figure out fights again? Maybe different boss mechanics? Maybe pre-nerf scholo/strath? Thatā€™d be awesome.

If that do that, then it might actually be a lot closer to the authentic Vanilla experience. Heck of a lot closer than Classic anyway.

Blizzard reads all kind of our random crap on the forums - everything from #nochanges to ā€œI want classic with a barbershop and new contentā€.
Why is a survey that would cover the gambit of everything they have read on the forums unexpected or surprise? This gives them a more accurate picture of what everyone wants vs what the forum trolls want. Blizzard is going to do what they have always done, and that is try to give most people what they want. The problem is people confuse that and think what they want is what everyone wants. Iā€™m pretty happy that Blizzard is sending out surveys because thereā€™s a lot of garbage on the forums and I think it would be a mistake to only base an action on the opinion of a handful of crybabies.

Because people want to keep their same names, and there would be conflicts if you tried to merge multiple servers into one. The Connected Servers are the way around that.

Have you not played WoW since they added CRZ?

CRZ is cancer. Connected realms are terrible. Just merge. Oh no, people might lose their names! Theyā€™ll deal with it. Having an actual community is far more important.
