The option many people seem to be choosing is not to get the cloak at all. Many disagree with you that it’s any sort of fun. A lot of people have left after finding out that this is it for the patch, and they hype was much ado about nothing.
People who complained about Nazjatar weren’t complaining about essences. They were complaining that they hated Nazjatar and felt like it was designed to punish players who were required to do it to get flight.
And that first week, a lot of people who had held out until that point did give up and leave the game.
Dude…they’ve NEVER had legendary items that was useful the next expansion. Some people were using thunderfury during karazhan but that was more to show it off rather than it was best in slot or something.
If you don’t want to get the cloak, that’s on you. Just don’t be upset when people don’t want to play with you. This is all on you, nobody else cares.
No. They put it on for some of the fights to buff their aggro and then switched it back once they got it. It had nothing to do with actual damage. And yes it was out leveled.
A level 70 weapon could do more dps than that item.
It was used as a borderline exploit for agrgro grabs to take the aggro off of the Death Knight DPS as they were super prone to stealing it from the tanks at the time with their massive burst. A DK with anything above the Bone Arbiter who switched to unholy presence to get faster DPS would draw agrros big time so the raid had to work with old world legos to get the threat back to them. it had nothing to do with actual end game ICC clearing. And plus there was the occasianl huntard or two who forgot to take their pet off aggressive or who accidently auto shot and so you would need that to spam fast burst DPS to get threat back as tank. NOT used EVER as an actual end game ICC clearing weapon.
At least you can use it in TW content!
So if you change your mind and decide to get it, don’t delete it even after Shadowlands hit. (you could probably use it during leveling to, like any other legendary in past expansion)
BTW, one thing I felt about the current cloak legendary is, they should have introduced it more earlier.
Maybe during 8.2 or 8.2.5. They could have capped it at rank 9 or something till 8.3.
Because Shadowlands is coming out this year, which means we won’t be able to use it in BFA even for a year.
I know that. But my point is that I want us to level out of it naturally instead of having them write some lore or create a game mechanic to where the effects randomly become useless just because new gameplay content demands it.
The point that I am trying to make is that all of Blizzard’s past recent treatment of legendary items means that this cloak is going to be 100% WORHLESS next prepatch.
It will be nerfed or disabled. So I am not going to get it. Just like they did with my artifact weapons becuase they had no clue how to scale those up so lore was pulled out of the blue to say their energy was al spent to make a cool cinematic basically. Now any new player who didnt play in Legion will NEVER get that option to make a usable artifact. All becuase the current team did not know how to scale them into the new expansion pack.
This cloak is going to be exactly that.
My point is that there is NO point in getting any legendaries EVER anymore as they are all made worthless.
and as for
I am talking CURRENT legendaries and their treatment of them now. You brining up old game play that used to work over a decade ago has zero relevancy to the current game now.
No reason to get an item that is going to have ZERO difference on gameplay as soon as it get nerfed and all effects turned grey after pre patch hits.
Old world Legos…hard to get, still worth something, relevant to their content, fun to get and iconic.
New world Legos, easy to get, not worth anything for current content, easy and boring to get, so many players have them that they lose all feeling of value.
BAM that right there is why I am NOT getting the cloak, EVER. ^^^^^
Then that’s on them. If they don’t like the content, then they don’t have to do it. But don’t let GD fool you into thinking that more people are opting to not do said content than the amount of people that ARE doing it. The amount of mythic parses over the last 2 weeks is in the hundreds of thousands. Heroic parses? About 2 million. There are a bunch of people who are playing the game right now, even if they’re not fond of it.
As far as people thinking Nazjatar was set up to punish players, boo hoo. It’s world content that progressively got easier with gear. It felt rough for all of 2 weeks, because that’s how new patches tend to be. I personally LOVED Nazjatar. I thought the art was really nice, the dailies were simple enough, and there was fun side stuff to do like the seahorse mount or little toys/pets from rares. I didn’t even rush to get pathfinder. I just relaxed and enjoyed the content, which in turn gave me pathfinder.
I feel like a lot of the problems people have stem from people wanting to not enjoy the game. Everyone loves the bandwagon of “hey let’s give blizz the middle finger just because it’s the cool thing to do right now.” It’s the current FOTM mindset. Yeah, there are flaws. Plenty of em. But at no point has this expac been “unplayable” for the average player because of actual, unpassable, brick wall content.
You’re still proving my point to some degree. In certain situations, it wasn’t unrealistic for prot warriors to equip a weapon 20 levels lower than them in order to gain, or maintain aggro on mobs. Then I’m certain that you remember BC, correct? Didn’t they use it far more in BC than in ICC? As a threat gen tool, it still took a strong precedence even if it was exactly just that. A threat generation tool.
But hey, in my opinion, it’s not out-leveled if it still has uses past it’s originally intended content. That might not be your opinion though.
is not “working super hard” is not hard at all. it is like a free 870 i lvl piece of gear, that you can upgrade it to rank 6 by just doing what you do questing.
It is fun, it is fun for a lot of people. Perhaps you should say " is not fun for me"?
I mean, sure, whatever. If you don’t plan on raiding and have no interest in the rest of this expansion, then no, there isn’t a point getting the cloak or corrupted gear.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue. You’re done with this expansion, so go ahead and quit till the next one. No one’s challenging you on that choice.
This toon right here used to be a level 60 twink that could solo an entire Alterac Valley and would gank many level 80s and could own almost ANY level 70 out in TBC area during WoTLK times.
So back then, there was a massive scaling issue.
No I didnt. I went out of my way to specifically state that the current dev team has one of three ways to make players stop using legendary items and NONE of them involve leveling out of them naturally by acquiring properly scaled gear to out level them.
And you were able to still use the old world legos. If the current dev team and designed those, the effects would have shut off the very next expac, but they didnt and they do now so that is exactly my point. I am not going to get an item that is going to be a pain to try and find a place to store it next expac. It is just going to take up space from now on out.
I listed how OLD world legos worked to where were leveled out of naturally. then I went out of my way to SPEFICALLY state that the Legion ones had us FORCED out of by leveling out of them due to poor design.
I am saying that the cloak is going to be exactly the same that I am going to eitehr level out of it, it will be unobtainable, or the effects will be deactivated which are one of the three ways that Blizzard now has us replace our legos instead of leveling out of them naturally like we sued to.
One of those three things will happen to the cloak. There is a 100% chance of it. And my point being, they never sued to do one of those three things until only recently.
So no. I did not contradict myself.
This cloak is gong to be made into another worthless item next expac that NO new players are going to be able to get, no players wo have it will be able to use and everyone who wasted their time getting it is going to be forced into making sure you have enough storage space in order to store it next to your useless blessing of king items and worthless crap like that.
If you are turned off by the idea of patches or expansions resetting gear relevance, you should have quit the game and potentially the entire genre ages ago.
It is not that. It is just that I do not agree with them disabling an effect just becuase new modern gameplay demands it when they never used to do that.
Agreed its not legendary if you just grind for 6 months and its a natural reward, that’s a blue.
the game lost its way, quests or long chains should be blues, epics should be dumb luck like 0.1% or tough bosses, and legendary should require all elements of luck, skill, and more.
