This is what Retail community wants?

Depends on the day for me.

Blizzard keeps pushing mythic into something unpalatable for most people and creating a stupid mentality with everything below it now that Heroics are just mythic lite rather than actually part of real progression like they used to be. So that mentality is just getting worse and worse.

If I want a slower more traditional run in a dungeon I just go with a guild group…

Dungeons were barely part of any progression previously.

You did them the opening month of an expansion, then ignore them for 2 years

Yes, TW dungeons should be over in the blink of an eye.
If you want content that takes longer, do raids or M+.

Cata dungeons were harder than TBC dungeons. The only “hard” part about TBC dungeons was your tank not getting plastered by white damage.

They were steamrolled if you had the right CC. Cata dungeons had actual boss mechanics.

At this point do you think the majority of Retail players give a flying cookier about whether Timewalking is “challenging”?

I ran through those dungeons a million times, I’ll speed run through them with or without a tank and healer.

To be kitted out in half legendaries from previous xpacs… Oh it was glorious lol

This xpac was actually designed for the alt warband. So you could do different quests and zones on them. I did the main campaign on my main then used my alts to clear out the side stories. There wasn’t much overlap.

This is not about what people want, it’s a result of the massive power increases at end game. Since TW is open to everyone from lvl 10 to max level, they have to balance it so that players in questing greens can complete it. This makes it trivial for players with full hero/myth track gear, full enchants, and tier set bonuses. I healed 5 earlier, and went from one max lvl tank with 6.2M HP, and the next run we had a tank with almost 21M HP.
There’s really no way to balance TW for a level 10 with only half their gear slots filled with greens, and also for a max level with iLvL 650, full enchants, and 4 piece tier set.

You had a low level twink in your group. They can 1-2 shot trash mobs. Sometimes even bosses in some timewalking eras.

Timewalking is not meant to be challenging content even without twinks though.

Unlike classic modes, retail has many difficulties. Some are extremely easy and some are extremely hard.

Leveling is not the game. Leveling is the road to the game. Go up the road and play the game.

i feel really embarrassed when i forget and then get completely lost

If you want a challenge, maybe run challenging content? Weird suggestion I know.

Dungeon leveling has been a zerg rush since heirlooms came out in Wrath of the Lich King. It’s been 15 years. We haven’t had a challenging or strategic dungeon leveling experience since the first raid tier of Wrath.

This is not “what the Retail community wants.” It’s one piece of the Retail game, and it’s been like that since Classic expansions were retail.

Judging the Retail game by your dungeon leveling in Timewalking (which is badly tuned to be so easy that it’s…not even content, to be honest) is like judging Classic only on murloc quests.

Almost Nobody likes Timewalking

  • Some of us dislike them because we wanted them to be difficult and challenging like they were back when they were current content.

  • Some of us dislike them because the scaling is wild between levels.

  • Some of us dislike them simply because we’ve done all of these old dungeons hundreds of times and don’t ever want to see them again but have no other option during TW week.

  • A small handful enjoy TW. Among those, there are players who twink and enjoy that experience.

But no, “this” is not “what the Retail community wants.” And timewalking is a weekly thing that only comes around every now and then. It is a tiny, insignificant speck when the game as a whole is your context.

Listen, I love Classic. I enjoy it every time a new one with fresh servers comes out. I’m all about it, and there are things about Classic gameplay I absolutely adore revisiting.

But retail is not garbage simply because it isn’t Classic. It prioritizes different things. If you want the challenging dungeon experience that requires attention, strategy, and teamwork–dungeons that will punish you if you go too fast or pull too much or stop paying attention for too long–that’s mythic plus, and it will knock your socks off if you can get over the timer.

The timer does not mean that the dungeons are rushed. They are not. They literally can’t be or you’ll wipe. Timewalking dungeons and leveling dungeons are a zerg rush. Mythic plus is a careful and strategic piece of teamwork and max use of the entire toolkit. The timer is simply there as a check. Like a damage check or a healing check, the timer is how long it should take a group to execute that dungeon well, and if you go over time, you don’t get as high of a score. That’s it. I see people in here who have never run a key or who have tried one or two and blamed the timer for their issues…but M+ is the new dungeon challenge, and it is Classic dungeon coordination multiplied by 15 years of development.

Give it a shot. Give it a real shot.

Barring that, we still have raids. We have delves. We have like eleventy different PvP modes. We have professions that can provide top tier endgame weapons and gear again.

Don’t dismiss the entire retail game just because you don’t like the leveling. The leveling was the focus in Classic. It is not the focus in Retail.

Adding to this, we have REAL timewalking now, i.e. Timeways M+ that lets us relive that older content on a true endgame difficulty with true endgame rewards. And we’re getting even pre-Legion dungeons updated for the format, like we saw with Grim Batol, Temple of the Jade Serpent, and Uldaman. That’s the way to make Timewalking relevant and challenging, not slowing down leveling to turn Retail into Classic.
