This is the worst expansion in years for non-dungeon/raid players

Fair criticism. Okay.

  1. If we are going to have followers then they should ALL be characters in their own right with stories and idiosyncrasies. Not just freaking portraits we collect along the way. WoD actually did some of this, but Blizz never did anything more with it.

  2. If we are going to have followers they should FOLLOW us to the next expac. Maybe even just some of them. Some might have to go home or whatever, but having them all just split seems dumb. We should be invested in our followers as characters. They don’t each need an elaborate backstory, but give each one something more than “Hey I am good at killing X.”

  3. There should be a huge diversity in the mission table. You could make a chain of follower quests that lead to a quest you can do personally for a mount or a pet. What if you could send followers to get certain really old transmog items? WHY NOT? How about sending followers to fish or get cooking items or collect mats? Not a ton of them, but SOME. What if there were transmog recipes that would pop up as harder missions. Just diversify the missions so that more players feel it is useful to level followers up. We don’t all want the same things. Give ALL players a reason to do this stuff.

Look, if I was designing the mission table then I would really invest in it. I’d make real trade-offs when it comes to which followers you choose. You know, like Sven the warrior is really powerful but scared of demons so, if you pick Sven he isn’t going to be much good when demons are the enemy. BUT . . .if you complete 20 missions with Sven and a priest? Sven converts to a noob paladin and is badass against demons. That kind of thing. ANY kind of thing! Why not go crazy with the mission table? Why is it so dull and yet we get it every expac?

I am sure there are so many things I haven’t even thought about with this feature. Blizzard comes up with new features in each expac and, instead of fixing what doesn’t work and making that thing better, they either dump it or dumb it down into the dirt.
