This is it. Professions are dead

Uh… sure? They could also take away melee weapons and shields from Warriors and have them shoot Arcane blasts from their hands instead, but it’s completely contrary to the whole point of playing a Warrior.

Oh you want a pay-to-win game. No.

Please that is an apple to oranges comparison .

Making crafted items BoE instead of BoP is not the same as changing how characters play .

Abilities are fundemental to how characters play the game . Crafting gear helps toons with their ilvls and stats but has no affect on a players ability rotation . Plus crafting gear could also be considered a side game .

Pay to win wtf . If that is the case then even the Work order system is pay to win because people could charge what they want for tips to craft stuff.

I’ve noticed those that use the word simp do it toward anyone that disagrees with their point of view. If you like something they don’t, you’re a simp.

That said, the dude you’re talking to is a clear troll.

Personally i always liked the questlines and earning higher ranks in Legion but I’m weird and stupid.

I think the intent is that crafting is an activity in and of itself. That it can supply things you can use as a new level 70 is good as well. That said, WoW has never been a game about crafting. Adding some crafting activities is an improvement (I think), but I don’t know that I’d expect it to stick around. It’s like the class specific end game progression from (I think) Legion. It’ll be there for an expansion and then poof it’ll be gone in the next.

Shiitake Mushroom take. You have mats like Earthen Soul, which are extremely frustrating to get because the Mob has interrupts and you can’t be interrupted, then the item has a cooldown. So this almost REQUIRES a group.

I just wanted to make a Mining Pick. Why does a profession item(that has stats not even worth the effort) requiring this? “first craft” lol they can keep it.

They’re definitely so incredibly bloated that a new player would probably stay away from them forever, that’s for sure. lol

What makes you think selling more tokens isn’t exactly why they made the crafting order system?

Yes, I have. They’re easy.

Reminds me of the gearing system in lost ark. Spend tons of time and effort (or real money) for a chance at a skill up and just mask it all in front of an obnoxiously obtuse UI/UX

I never said that and to be honest it would make sense that the system being done making all crafted purples BoP would benefit token sales .

I’m saying making the items BoE would make it easier for people to make gold that don’t want to spend money beyond the cost of expansions and monthly sub costs.

All Blizz needed to do was copy and paste FFXIV crafting. No they decided on the dumpster fire called a work order system instead.

With materials from raids.

It’s not a true end game pillar of it’s own until it doesn’t need dungeon/raid drops to progress.

IMO, MoP (with the daily CDs), WoD (with the upgrade system) and Legion (mixed ranks) were all better iterations on professions. Starting with those base systems and layering in some of the new features (specializations, profession equipment) would have been great.

Similarly, dumping in both (poorly tested) specializations and the new mat qualities was too much at once. Qualities, especially, are challenging. If they’d stuck with finishing reagents + stats + specializations and a single mat quality, and made sure that the Titan Matrices / Sparks / other BoP gear did not mean clearing other gear-dropping content to progress, I’d be pretty happy.

The only things I have against the new system are:

  • The cheat/exploit of KP that wasn’t walked back making the opportunity everyone was going to have, with the gated KP gains in place, to participate and compete…disappear under a wave of cheering from people who were happy to get their power ups so much earlier.
  • The obtuse/opaque UI
  • Bipolar nature of skill points vs KP which isn’t obvious.
  • The system having numerous “dead ends” that could/can kill progress for weeks and/or months without heavy gold sinking (token sales really).
  • The pointlessness of the public CO system, which was an excitement point for a lot of people that there was going to be a marketplace…and find out a month into the xpac that it was more of a lark than anything else. I mean, really?, it’s for stuff where no one cares about how good the results are?
  • (and someone beat me to this one) That’s is still really not for everyone because it still needs raid drops to progress (that don’t drop outside of the hardcore stuff).

if they gate to keep people closer together you cry. if they don’t you cry, they cater to the 1 percent. you are such a joke dude seek mental health therapy, you clearly need it.

its the hour CD that makes it useless for me personally.
I may as well just use in game portals to get to the content and not even bother.
The SLs WH was perfect. Set point in each zone, 15 min CD.
Then Ion had to IONize the usefulness out of the thing for DF

Only profession I have at max is skinning and I have a whole 3 points to put into my tree. So much fun. I’m not touching mining or herbalism until regular flying come out. I’ll pick up what I see when questing and then I’m done. I’ll treat the node like chests, don’t care if I get them or not, because most of the time the effort is not worth it.

Skill issue

It’s interesting, I was thinking in a lot of ways the system would have been better if KP was directly sequential to skill. In other words, once you reach 100 skill, then you can gain (and spend) KP to further progress your profession.

I got to 100 skinning, and decided to put my KP into the talent that gives meat on skins.

I haven’t gotten a single piece of meat in the last several hundred, making me feel like that was 100% wasted.

Similarly, the lure doesn’t scale to your level. Found that out the hard way when my level 64, with maxed skinning, put down a lure and got demolished by an unscaled level 70 elite.

I’m going to guess that most of you got to about 50. Then stopped because you need crafting orders to level it further and there aren’t any.

I’m also going to guess that for the first 3 weeks most of you checked the crafting order board every day, and didn’t see it used once.

Further, I’m also going to guess that most of you have since given up and don’t check the crafting board anymore.

This is not a success.

If you come into the game now, or switch mains, you are now hopelessly behind on crafting: You will not be able to catch up until they add in a catch up mechanic because they decided to add unnecessary timegating.

This is also not a success.

Token sales, from people willing to pay to bypass this mess, have lowered the token price to the point where it’s only worth about 135k gold at the moment. So to Blizzard, this is a HUGE success, even if players are just paying to not participate in it.

I like DF, but for me crafting is a huge letdown.
