This game feels so quiet and dead

“Lost” implies something way more serious than “folks just stopped playing like they do every single expansion over time as patches are released, folks do their thing, and then wait by playing other games.”

To have lost 50% of roughly 7-8M people seems hyperbolic and made up. Especially since the general reception of the game has been good.

Sure, and folks even made a big deal out of it. But once that wasn’t the ‘new thing to do anymore’, folks went back to other games.

All of this is normal and have been normal since at least Wrath. Nothing about this is unusual, weird, bad, or implies that the game is “dead.” Look for communities, actively expose yourself to other people, say “hey, it was a good run - can I add you and do more stuff with you” when you do literally anything endgame related and you find folks you gel with.

The game works the same way it has always done in this regard.

Area 52 still is a extremely large populated realm
I don’t know what you mean by quiet. Your post is kind of all over the place with general stuff with no kind of anything backing up your opinions and statements

I mean, we are prepping for Remix, and player housing, Turbo is off and running, plus it is technically the “end of the season” which means the “M+ only” crowd have uninstalled til at least February. :woman_shrugging:

Guilds are cross server nowadays due to this guild recruitment is no longer done in game and hasn’t been for quite some time.

It’s done through Discord and other platforms

Isn’t that how it’s always been? They technically weren’t “seasons” back in vanilla, but we had raid tiers that frequently which had better gear for the most part. The only thing is that the jumps between tiers probably wasn’t as high as it is now, but everything else is about the same.

You’re probably just in an underpopulated realm.

Which is coincidentally when these type of threads always pop up.

The calm before the storm…Legion Remix!

Not my experience. My guild has been continuously active since the first month of vanilla, over 20 years now. I have many friends outside the guild as well, make new ones every month, and can hardly log on without being invited to a group activity. If I want solo play, I have to be sneaky and “appear offline”.

Area 52 must be pretty active. I recently went bargain shopping for a boe to catalyst and complete my tier set. There were more on Area 52 than any other realm, indicating a very active raid scene.

Do you make any effort to make in game friends? How do you go about it?

Group with someone from moon guard and visit the inn just outside stormwind.

Play a game based on instances complain its based on instances.

Many such cases

Horde usually hangout in Orgrimmar or Dornagol.

The new zone is boring, there’s nothing interesting on the horizon, and raiders are raid logging. The gear is going to be reset so who cares. The midnight trailer was lame so there’s less excitement than usual to build up to that. There’s also people going to OSRS, new D4 patch, other games with new stuff (e.g., POE2), etc. that pull people away. But people will mostly come back for the new expansion, it always spikes for a launch then slowly declines, though this might be worse than before, similar to other unpopular expansion runs (e.g. BFA, SL)

Just seems exacerbated now. Maybe it is the lifeless zone of K’aresh. Maybe I expected Phase Diving to actually be something different. I’ve done everything I want to do in the zone including the full Ecological Succession quest line. Now all there is to do in Retail is farm gold and K’aresh Renown. Don’t even get have to go to K’aresh for renown as most of it comes from the dungeon weekly.

Remix starts soon though so I will spend my time there until Midnight.
