SL isn’t a time investment, it’s a time drain. An investment means you get something out of it, but now you quite literally get nothing.

What did you expect?

I expected them to follow through with their promises of better PvP gearing when reality is that gated gear is purely there to promote paid carries, even beyond that the iLevel disparity is so massive in PvP content that a new player whose starting now or someone who rerolls will be behind permanently because each iLevel has that much of a power spike over the last tier.

Even aside from PvP, I expected them to create a loot system that doesn’t give as much as loot as BfA but something more moderate and instead they went to the other extreme of not giving loot at all and drip feeding it via the Lootbox Vault.

This doesn’t take into account how bland the story is, how frustrating the time gates are and even worse how you have to run Torghast layers on every toon again when literally only a handful of people can genuinely say they enjoy Maw/TC/Torg.

Forget all that though, even basic gameplay is tedious now. It’s the same rotations, same 5 buttons, no class identity mixed with Covenants that you either have to go be gimped from doing content.

Blizzard / ACTIVISION is dragging out the content, flying around takes forever. One mailbox in Oribos. Art is def not as good as it used to be, probably offshored or they replaced artists with lesser paid lesser experienced to do the work. Hurry up Mike, time to go!

The micro transaction design philosophy of

• Make a good game
• Break it
• Sell the solution to fix it

Has seriously compromised their thinking. They don’t use it encourage direct payments, they use it to create time gates and artificial manufactured activities. For example, break mounts in the maw, sell them the solution with 144 floors of torghast. This has always been the greatest danger with the store. It devolves game design into making bad games.

It’s OK to be critical of a game you like, what’s not ok is silencing people for having that opinion.

Literally a handful in the forums, let’s clear that up. You are taking all your anecdotal advice from the people who pay to forum PvP.

Again, for the cost of this game, you have no better entertainment for your buck. I sink 80 on AAA titles all the time for maybe 20hrs of gameplay. Is WoW at it’s best, meh debatable, but we are literally 2 months into a 2 year expansion and here you are on your soap box like it’s the end.

Currency cap is different than rating cap. The best PvP gear requires 2100 and in 2s 1400 bracket you have 215 iLevel players with full M+ gear stomping players who have a low iLevel who the bracket was initially designed for.

It’s overinflated because PvE players get no loot so PvP becomes the option while rating locks the gear, so people buy boosting services now more than ever because they don’t want to deal with the arena grind.

You keep looking at it like per hour how much entertainment you can get when a lot of people spend years of their life doing things they don’t enjoy because they either are addicted or are hoping things get better, and your metric for entertainment is inherently selfish because the time you spend on this game enjoying it is not the time someone else spends hating it.

Sure you can just say “Do something you enjoy” but people are finding themselves in a place where the game they enjoy is in a bad state and they’re expressing their thoughts about it.

Fun facts, I am back after a six month break. I realized it wasn’t fun for me anymore, like I have plenty of time over 16 years of game play.

I can do something I enjoy, if you truly are that addicted to a game, seek help. I find it so weird that people will keep paying for something they no longer enjoy and take the time to go after anyone who still loves it. That’s not on Blizzard, that’s on the players who keep paying to be unhappy. If all of you unsubbed like we did in WoD over flying though, do you really think there would be as big of a dent? I agree, but theirs 2 mailboxes in Oribos, seems like many didn’t explore… it’s on the outer ring of the inn… although it’s more further out the way.

You’re acting like me making this post will magically cause Ion and the Dev team to swoop down and make sweeping changes to the game.

Who cares if I unsubscribe or if anyone does really, this game’s metric of value is based on time played and literally every single part of SL is designed to get you to keep spending more time while rewarding you less and less just to hit you with that big loot piece only to be followed by the same routine until you either get tired and complain on the forums or you unsub and leave.

I think regardless if someone enjoys WoW or not, they should have the right to speak their mind on these forums.
