BRD goes 1 of 3 ways in classic. Retail would do the same most times.
Its a prison run. Run to prison boss, kill them, requeue. this 1 boss is counted as a clear for quests/satchels/etc. I had a few chars we did this for over an hour. Its better than suffering 50 to 60 leveling via questing again. Boring as hell, but better xp.
Mole machine to last part is used.
or you get the rotating crew full clear run. Players are dropping off after a boss kill the whole time.
These runs need the tank to be the one who wants full run. Most others aren’t staying for this. New tanks coming in are going wtf!?..boss kill, drop.
I stayed for one to get that final paladin weapons quests on my Ret pally. I cannot lie…quest completed, drop.
Wailing Caverns was actually really short, what made it long was we didn’t know where we were going and we used to pull slower and wipe and talk in the dungeon and stuff, I straight up made WoW buddies in that dungeon.
I remember LBRS taking forever because it was kind of a challenging dungeon. OG Uldum. My server had ST on farm, I dunno, I remember blazing through that dungeon, I had every piece of loot from there, the axe, the trinket, the helm, everything and the loot was complete dog crap.
even by tbcc then wrath changes its a jump skipper. To get back that OG true feeling the game would have to roll this back to 3 button casts max. and one of those would be autoattack lol.
Since a tank and spank, healz only needs to take care of tank after 50% hp loss on cliff jumps.
With retail’s tree setup among other things…it go even faster!
They should put them back in like they did with SM and Scholo. That said, they were able to put those back in since they were actually different maps than the new ones. To remake Sunken Temple or such they would need to copy + paste the old map and give it a new ID and then there is the issue a lot of mobs were just updated and share the same IDs as old ones so even if they copy + pasted an old map, some of the mobs would still be using post-Cata behavior. Unless they also copy + pasted those and gave them new IDs, but at this point it’s starting to become a good bit of work for something I don’t think a ton of people would care about.
Then again everyone hated garrisons and covenants and they doubled down and poured even more resources in to those, which I assume took more than copy + pasting like old dungeons would take, so who knows.
The biggest thing I miss about old dungeons was the trash design. It was just chef’s kiss.
There were sections where there would be 50 non elites that did nothing but auto attacks and you’d have to deal with them. Usually it was spam heal the Warlock while they pressed hellfire. That concept is completely deleted out of dungeons now, everything has 5 trillion HP.
More verbose answer: The Extent TW dungeons all extrapolate their mechanics and loot from the Heroic versions which is a system that didn’t exist until Burning crusade, so all of the dungeons would have to be rejigged to have that as a component. Beyond that, most of the bosses and mobs are incredibly simplistic and would need to reworked as part of that so that you don’t have the whole thing being a complete joke and furthermore you need to rebalance a lot of the loot since a bunch of it doesn’t even have Modern secondary stats since they didn’t really exist in their current format until much later. Beyond that… a lot of the Classic gear doesn’t actually look that good comparatively so It’s debatable how enthused players would be for most of these.
There is one good set in Classic, the Ghostwalker set from Mara. I accidentally farmed that entire set while I was trying to get the pink boots. BoE Tmog is cancer to collect, that burnt me out of tmogging for a while.
The reason we don’t have classic timewalking is because Blizzard considers classic dungeons to be bad. That’s not conjecture either, but the stated reason on their part.
Like don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying theres nothing but in terms of how the gear actually looks in general, It’s not exactly nuanced.
Which don’t get me wrong can absolutely be a good thing when you want something more neutral, but very few people are going to go bonkers over one of the twenty near identical knives or 4 polygon spears.
Hehe, nu Blizz thinks the old dungeons are bad even though they can’t design a good dungeon now to save their lives.
When they design dungeons now, they have to have the RP pruned out of them and have them nerfed every patch and in beta and Evokers can’t use their abilities inside of them lel. I can’t even remember a time where a classes base abilities didn’t work inside of a dungeon.
Nah I wasn’t trying to be cute, most of it looks like crap, the Ghostwalker set looks abnormally good was what I was trying to say.
You will though. Sure they won’t be humans but they are still Scarlet Crusaders.
So I guess classic dungeons like Maraudon, Zul’Farrak, Blackrock Depths and LBRS no longer exist?
(Side note: Blackrock Spire was weird in vanilla. It was a raid (UBRS, scaled to 10 people) and a dungeon (LBRS) as one massive instance. Cata then scaled UBRS down to 5 people. Later WoD would revamp UBRS and made LBRS its own dungeon).
Probably the best part about mega dungeons was that if you had a good route through, they blew by. One of the few things I want to do in Classic, but can’t bring myself to level a character enough, is to see if I still remember the route through old ST. It has been so long and I’m genuinely curious if that information is still lurking in my skull.
Recommend you aim yourself at unlocking old scholo/strat and naxx then. Remember strat UD 15 min? Well in that unlocking you get to do one in like 5 min, that rout surfaces really fast!
I’ve done that. I knew these very well and I’m pretty sure ST was changed earlier than these were because it was such a maze. ST at cataclysm or maybe WOTLK and the rest with MOP as I recall.
Dire Maul North, Stratholme, Scholomance and Blackrock Depths and Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS) could be run with 10 man originally. Which was quite interesting.
In their video about the anniversary event they say the Classic timewalking dunegons will be going into the regular rotation after the two-month event is over.
