Things you wish to see in 8.2

In Vanilla he was a terror. You needed a raid group not just to deal with him, but his endless supply of Green Hyenas.

Anyway, I’m hoping the new zone will have plenty of fun, repeatable content. I keep hoping WoW will adopt the live event system in open world that other MMOs have used, like FFXIV’s Fates or Rifts’, well, Rifts. FFXIV’s Hunt system would be cool, too, get a group of folks together to take down special monsters spawning every couple hours that reward currencies to be spent on mounts, toys, mog items, etc. Hunt enough and get a title, maybe, or access to a special encounter like in Tanaan to get the Predator title.

That’s a fair point, but he is just a skilled human with a bow, REALLY skilled mind you, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is just an undead guy with a bow. Tyrande is Elune’s chosen avatar, and then she gets the power boost of the Night Warrior. I’m sorry but Nathanos shouldn’t have even stood a chance.

If you want to make the argument that he has been around since the Second War, I would make the argument Tyrande has been around for 10,000+ years. She has seen several wars and fought in them.

I get your point about character power levels changing based on what the story needs, but in this instance it was complete nonsense. I just could not buy for one second that he would be able to take on Tyrande the way he did. It would have made more sense if he thought he could take Tyrande, and then she tore him to pieces without breaking a sweat, thus causing the Val’kyr to have to sacrifice it’s life to bring him back. That would have made way more sense and actually made the Night Warrior seem like something to be feared.

Just a function of over-exposure. Same thing happened with Thrall, he was probably one of the game’s most loved characters until he was made the hero of Cataclysm.

Khadgar somehow avoided the hate though.

I chalked that up to him having some lighter moments and such (cool as a cucumber!), as opposed to being straight-laced all the time like it felt Thrall was and how Nathanos is. It’s easier to warm up to a character when they’re given more relatable small moments.

I think it was that Thrall was too serious, and Nathanos is just… well, a dick.

Khadgar was super powerful, but he was a dork. He wasn’t too cool, he wasn’t serious, and he wasn’t brooding. He was a real person, with some social flaws.

He’s also the favorite character of a developer who’s fond of interfering to give him as much screentime as possible. Originally, Nathanos was going to be killed by the Literal Avatar of A God and then a Valkyr was going to sacrifice herself to bring him back, but Danseur interfered because he didn’t want Nathanos to look weak.

For the same reasons Cataclysm ruined Thrall with too much screentime, BfA ruined Nathanos and he needs to go.

Because Khadgar was your sidekick. He cracked jokes, gave you counsel and dealt with mooks so you could be the big hero and fight the big bosses. His role was advisory and it made him likable.

But you were Thrall’s sidekick in Cataclysm. He gave you orders, insulted you, forced you attend his wedding and made you protect him. Metzen was always very careful to remind you that you were a stooge in Thrall’s employ, so people hated him.

You got an actual quest to be coerced to be witness to Thrall’s terrible romance. That’s unforgivable.

Y’know, this also. I didn’t think of it this way until now, but as canonically powerful as he was, he didn’t steal any raid boss kills. He just cleared a path for you take the final swing.

I’ll never stop loving the image of Grandpa Khadgar golf-swinging arcane bombs into the overrun Blue Dragon camp in Azsuna.

My favorite Khadgar thing is when you’ve got that quest to set fire to a bunch of huts, and you can set fire to his table when you go to turn in. He scolds you every time you do, “Stop doing that.” #sterndadgar

As Khadgar’s number one fan, I am ashamed of myself for never having learned you can do this.
