Things I learned in M+ today

I decided to pug some M+ as a tank to get my io up and get some more experience. I main a gnome hunter and normally only run with my guild so this is all new to me.

  • I really wish we could see what classes/specs are in a group when we sign up for it. As some comps are really bad for certain affixes.
  • Many players seem to not have had to cc or have never used it before.
  • I miss being able to call things out on discord. So I might ask people to join mine from now on.
  • If you attack one target, dps will decide to kill others instead.
  • Quaking isn’t mitigatable by most of my cd’s. (logs show 5% mitigation on quake though I have 70% through out the dungeon)
  • Motherload trash is really tightly spaced for affixes like quaking, after the 2nd boss.
  • Quaking on the last boss of Motherload really sucks as it happens at the same time as the gun and the explosives.

So how was everyone else time in M+ last week?

Heck yeah! Let the person on the outside pass judgement on the people on the inside. That’s a fantastic idea.

Perhaps that sounds sarcastic, but I assure you that I think this is a great idea.

ML is the easiest dungeon for me, its one of the few +10s I’ve timed as a tank (that’s about where I am now in general)

For quaking its best to run with ranged dps for pugs. Sure I’ve had great groups with 3 melee who could step out of each others circles in time every single time, but that’s rare.

fortified+teeming is one of the worst combos - it makes dps feel like they are -30 ilevels. This week will be SO MUCH better. For whatever reason, Blizzard likes that some weeks are twice as hard as others. So do try this week, it will feel a LOT better.

Oh I will. This wasn’t intended as a complaint thread. Just a conversation about how things went.

I’ve been looking up how to deal with necrotic, seems like warriors have it easy with 2 intercepts and heroic leap, I just need to pick up some dps with slows.

Motherlode is a dead key to me… I hate it more than any other dungeon.

Also, pugging is frustrating absolutely but have some marks on mobs, chat a bit before the dungeon and don’t use your discord just use the ingame voicechat if you want people there. Opening up your discord to the public is a bad idea.

Keep your head up in regards to the pug world, just like anything sometimes it’s terrible and sometimes it’s wonderful. Think of befriending the folks you enjoy playing with. Also. Shoot high. I found this week I had 3 7s that were full of people that had no idea how to play, but if I went to a 10 people take it way more seriously.
Mmm think that’s the only advice I can give.

I’d love to have the chance to use more CC in M+. But the number of times I’ve seen the tank heroic leap or charge + bladestorm into a pack is pretty discouraging.

I run M10s on 7 chars. Literally every character this week had a King’s Rest or a SOTS key.

Fortified+Teeming+Those Dungeons, make me want to gouge my eye out with a spoon.

I tried that myself yesterday :wink:

But I got my butt handed to me by the second to last pack on the left side right before the third boss in ML. I tried to just pop cd’s the first time but died, so the second time around I marked the alchemist to cc. So we would have more interrupts. It still failed so I went to the right instead and that worked. I think I might stick to the right from now on. I’ll have to map out the % though and adjust for that.

Have wanted that for a long time.

Up through the 14 I ran this week, there was no need for CC. Stuns sure, but not CC. That said you will not get meminrok KR with teeming. Ever.

I always give tank lead when i forma group. This way they can mark targets

Not if they are marked. Or know about threat. I oft times will beat on a target while the tank builds aggro on another. Try a Tol Dagor with an all melee group. And I knew who was in that party when I joined.

I don’t get the ML hate. It’s got a lot of trash but it has the easiest bosses in the entire expansion and 1 of them requires almost zero healing.

I am only at +10 with my prot war, but I’m less mobile than most and it’s fine. Blocks (keeping block up is the #1 thing for prot wars) and some small kiting only when really needed works. Necrotic is easily less than half as hard as Grevious, Quaking, Bursting, Teeming, Fortified or Bolstering - its almost as easy as Skittish which barely does anything.

Also our pulls are back to normal this week… Teeming requires tanks know 10 different paths for the dungeons… just for that week… and that’s total baloney.

This is the week to work raider IO score, a true “push week.”
