They should make a parody song of Jukebox Hero, and call it Keystone Hero

I fell in love with Weird Al thanks to UHF.

Most of my song parodies are sung to my cats.

yes i think maybe the key thing is, I could not afford to go to court with a superstar, I am not sure of public defenders do civil cases

You can parody all you want, you just can’t rip off the actual song while doing so. It has to be changed enough to be original. If you don’t change the melody, pitch or swap notes on top of changing most of the lyrics, you are stealing.

I dunno. I’ve seen a lot of parodies where the melody was the same, just the lyrics changed.

Sure, but they are lazy and could be sued for infringement if they don’t have permission or make money from it.

For instance in most every Weird Al song except Amish Paradise, the melody is just a tad different. Both Amish and Gangster’s Paradise share the same backing track of Pastime Paradise.
