They said SL's was "On the Rails" but

Those players never had any impact on the story progression in wow. Be it vanilla all the way to SL. The story always ended the same. With some one dead in a raid.

This is your very narrow minded opinion lol. I guess you are the target audience Blizzard is shooting for these days. People that just want to grind the same dungeons for 2 years.

Well duh, that is my point lol. Good MMOs create content that fosters group play in all aspects of the game, not just at end game. I can see you are stuck in the themepark MMO world.

Not my thing either. I guess your narrow mind assumed that. I prefer raids then pvp once I’m bored of the content. Not mindlessly killing 12 goblins for candles.

I guess low level dungeons don’t exist… oh wait… I guess you can’t quest with friends to literally halve the required time to complete them… oh wait.

Its also a bit hard to base a story line on the progressional choices of 7 million+ people all individually choosing outcomes. No game has done that and they won’t ever do it. The code alone would burn down Google’s super computer.

I really like the questing experience and story and way forward, I have never liked the quest all over the map type experience of BC questing etc, and with threads of fate I have enough choice to not do it again but still feel like my character went through it.

I really like this expansion and the way things are being done, I’m also so intrigued on the first ones / origins etc (I’m also someone who loves the faction divide and conflict) and I’m completely fine with that being not a focus for awhile with this story telling.

Alt-aholics would disagree with this

Probably but that is something I’ll never understand. The game actually starts at Max level and always has.

Your experience is not everyone’s.

Leveling is content. You’re not making much sense here.

I am. 5-7 zones with quests spread out everywhere, different storylines throughout each zone, etc. That’s much different than 4 small zones with a very linear questline and very little deviation.

Thus why some people like this new direction and others don’t. This backs up what I’ve been saying. I’m glad it’s what you enjoy.

Hopefully you find some joy out of SL. Honestly, I think you will like the challenge waiting in these mythic dungeons. Some of the fights are next level and the graphics are beautiful. Last boss in Theatre of Pain was the definition of a beautiful nightmare.

For you, but not for everyone. I also like leveling alts and going back and completing older achieves. It never has been just “current game PVP/Raids” for me.

To me, this is a symptom of the World being gone from WoW. We started with Warcraft which was an RTS about this large scale conflict between the conquering Horde and the Alliance who formed in defense of Azeroth, and then WoW was created to bring life to the world of Azeroth. That’s why Classic WoW quests are on the order of:

  • Bring me some bear butts so I can make sausage, and I’ll teach you how to make it in return.
  • I dropped my dolly in the water. Can you please get it back for me?
  • These murlocs are being a real PITA. Can you do something about that please?

You know, stuff that’s happening throughout the world, not just at the highest levels of government.

Contrast that with what we have now. The faction heads and their primary advisors have been kidnapped and imprisoned in the afterlife. We have to get them back. All of them, Horde and Alliance alike. What does that even have to do with the World or Warcraft anymore?

I guess it’s not such a big deal for me because I did the older content during the times it was current (I’m old lol). During WOTLK I had 6 level 80s. In legion I had 9 100s. I do level alts but mainly to experience max level as a different class.

Because those quests don’t make you feel like what you do matters. A lot of people have already done them 20 times each and it got stale by the 3rd time through. At least this way you actually feel like what you do matters to more than the slow kid hanging by the road looking for his pet rock. You’re saving the world… of warcraft haha

LOL, I don’t know why, but this reminds me of some threads with people asking to have the character limit of 50 increased. I can see leveling 8-9 to max, but 50? Wow. My alt leveling is put on hold right now because there is so much new content to explore, but I really do want to get my level 25 DK to SL eventually.

You weren’t here for 6.0 were you? This is WoD questing all over again except worse. You don’t get a choice of which zone to do next. You don’t get a choice of which quests to do next. There is a distinct order to them. Get out of that order even a little bit and you lose the thread. There are little to no side quests.

I would have thought the developers would have learned their lesson from WoD. Guess not.

I have 27 character between 40 and 50 right now scattered over 12 servers… I hit the cap back in the day and deleted so many. I’ve even deleted max level alts to make room, pretty sure that was after ret palys got nerfed real bad in mop.

Seriously unholy dks and blood dks are in a really good spot at the moment. Highly recommend leveling one.

Not everyone levels all of them. And we have different alts for different reasons. RP, questing with friends, all different levels for different reasons.

And some others want all classes and all races. Some at Max, others don’t care.

But deletion isn’t an option some want to utilize, when they’re spread across different servers and guilds for different reasons. Some is also nostalgia or old personal achievements, recipes, etc.

Couldn’t do it in TBC or WOTLK either but those expansions sucked too right?

Systemlands is the most on rails this game has ever been… It is even more on rails than Cata… At least in Cata I got to select the zone I wanted to quest in at first. I don’t even get that here unless your running an alt with ‘Threads of Fate’
