They said to everybody that the apperances were never coming back, and specifically used that FOMO as a way of increasing short term sub counts and profits at the end of Legion. It harmed the game in the long run but upped their quarterly figures. Yay capitalism.
And since they said it, they’re painting a big lawsuit shaped target on their back if they ever renege on it. Yeah they would be stupid lawsuits, but they’d definitely happen, who wouldn’t sue a big company for a huge payout if given an easy chance?
However, as we saw with the fel colored werebear, they can give us extremely similar but technically different appearances.
The point you are trying to make falls flat on its face since they’ve added previous FOMO items to the Trading Post and the BMAH. And those are only two examples.
The only way a lawsuit could happen is if they brought back something that was only obtainable via some type of televised/internet promotion, such as the Warlords Deathwheel.
They never said they’d never be available again. They said “limited time” for that time period. They said they don’t want to bring them back due to the prestige they hold (or something like that), but there is no legally binding wording claiming “no, we will never ever again be legally allowed to put these into the game.”
Technically, they only ever said Classic as it existed would never come back, they had gotten rid of the servers or something like that. Todays Classic is not the same as Vanilla, as I understand it. Of course, I may be wrong lol.
I remember the big Wall of No and blizzard stating that they had no intention of opening up classic servers or TBC servers. I don’t recall the specifics you mention, but it definitely could have been there.
