Oh, that’s absolutely the reason. It’s also why I get away with it.
And it’s what the people want. The delay on seeing it get into mainstream publication is purely rich dudes who don’t bother to know what decade it is.

Where can I find your webserial? I’ll give it a read sometime when I can?
Aw, nerts, I’m finally out of likes.
This is a terrible design feature.
I don’t post public links to it here because of what Some People are like in the WoW community and I don’t need them in my professional sphere. I’m Azhaar#1637 on discord if you wanna hit me up for a link.
Alright, I’ll go ahead and do that!
Edit --> Your account isn’t accepting friend requests at the moment. I’m not really comfortable giving my discord out over the forums, so may hold off for now xD Sorry!
Ah, fudge, I’m not very discord literate. I didn’t even know that was a setting…
Oh, I might hit you up too. I self publish my own work on a semi-professional level and don’t feel totally comfortable just dropping my info on the World of Warcraft forums haha.
There’s a lot of problems with publishing houses. Fortunately in my sphere there’s a lot of options in the indie world that looks for work that touches on these subjects and it’s exciting to see these publishers go toe to toe with the big boys.
It may be set as default, though that’s unusual for most chat-services like Discord. I don’t recall what it was when I started using it, so. Is what it is!
There, I found the box to switch! Should work now.
I don’t know. MMOs feel limited by their source material. If you’re nakedly copying medieval Europe or tribal societies (in many cases describing them as being insular for generations) then having a large portion of the population running around with tolerant multicultural views and modern opinions on gender seems jarring.
The only one that I think really set up their source material to support this was gw2. SWTOR Republic side as well, now that I think about it, the society was tolerant even if EA didn’t want to write any non-straight stories at launch.
It’s a myth that medieval and tribal societies were intolerant. There were a wide range of opinions on the matter throughout cultures and eras, some of which would seem quite amazingly progressive by modern standards. Our ideas of what things used to be like has been formed by a couple centuries of dominant cultural forces trying to enforce those ideas.
I mean, it’s as Jarring as dragons and undead and demons and light wind chimes and tiny fish people and void elves
if you’re willing to write a plot about how a deity rebelled to raise a demon army to fight multiple cthulus planted in the skin of a god in the shape of a planet by the concept of nothingness, you don’t really have the justification of “sorry our hands are tied by 18th century Christianity hangups”
blizzard r cowards
Very upset that I’m out of likes because this deserves three or four.
E: HAH. Can still like on alts.
I mean, you’re not wrong. In many ways the Catholic church was more tolerant in 900 than it is today.
Pretty much. xD. Though, I don’t really think it’s fair to call someone a coward for not writing a story they may very well just not be interested in writing. They -could- be cowards that just don’t want to write it for fear of push-back, but they may also just legit not have interest in writing it and consider their focus best spent elsewhere.
Wait we have a like limit now? I’m gonna have to actually limit how much I like things D:
With regards the LGBT stuff in game, at the end of the day it’s their fantasy universe and they can do what they like with it. I think the ONLY medieval era hangup I have is that I kinda hope Anduin is straight SOLELY because I want the Wrynn line to continue in a direct sense. So I have that unpopular opinion.
There’s still time for gay Baine Bloodhoof though.
Just like everything then switch to another alt to like more stuff!
I believe Golden said that she doesn’t envision Anduin as gay, however. Not out of homophobia, but just because that’s not how she envisions him as an author writing a character. Blizzard’ll do what Blizzard’ll do, but something to keep in mind considering where she is now!
In regards to Anduin…why not both? Have a boyfriend and a girlfriend? He’s the King, go big or go home!!
The Wrynn line continues but Anduin transitions into Anduinia afterwards
