These are the least things you can do to improve pet battle

Many of us have made such lists over the years. A lot more in the Legion/BfA era, when we had some hope they might result in action.

One problem is that our lists tend to be quite different.

In the current situation, we don’t actually know what’s going on, what is motivating Blizzard to sunset battling. The only thing we have is that they say in their Alpha post:

As time has passed, we’ve seen fewer and fewer players enjoying pet battle combat, so this is an area we want to iterate on.

and Ion said essentially the same thing.

My sense is that the problem is not so much with regular battlers, who I think are keeping up the regular activity, but that not enough people are breaking into battling in the first place, so I think that any action to bring the numbers in line with what I think their expectation might be would have to center on:

  1. Getting people to learn the skill and complete their first few battles
  2. Getting people “over the hump” of initial understanding and into making battling a regular part of their routine
  3. (Maybe?) Buffing the reasons/rewards for doing wild pet battles. That is the only confirmed area of change right now, so maybe that’s a motivator for them?

We regulars have our own gripes, and they are valid, but I don’t think that any dissatisfaction or fall-off among the regulars is fueling this change.
