There's a lot of wasted content

Sunsong Ranch has been my morning routine for a few months now.

MoP was just an example tried to think of a good expansion that’s probably mostly ignored by most people now days.

That was the whole point of chromie time. If you only leveled 1 or 2 characters, I guess I can get how you feel this way.

You’re not meant to do everything at once. We used to have to do that and it was a pain

Level your character through an expansion you’re curious about. But they’re all the same fetch quest kill quest gather quest anyway

It’s not wasted content, it’s available content that the player base has paid for and mostly consumed already. Old episodes of friends are not wasted content, but yea they show them as reruns occasionally. They still generate some ad revenue.

That content is being accessed by pet/title/mog farming, timewalking and the new m+ rotation helps now.

I’m all for old raids maybe once a patch, but some of those raid items are balancing nightmares and the majority of these weren’t done with scaling in mind. It would be a pretty large overhaul. Lots of assets to use if they wanted to convert it like they did with karazhan or uldaman though. That’s always pretty neat, I actually really enjoy uldaman now. Learning 10+ unique fights for newer players for just a limited time event is also not ideal. We had molten core during the throwback event and it was a cluster.

I have no interest in doing the dailies though. Chromie time uses the world content pretty well if you have to scratch that itch.

A huge chunk of that content is actually still desirable by a lot of different smaller segments. It’s just not offering player power right now outside of timewalking and m+. I think that’s fine.

Well not everyone. I leveled several Blood Elves for SL and I leveled a bunch of Void Elves for DF. I made a point of trying to use a different path for each one.

It was fun going back and seeing those old areas all over again.

players chasing achievements will go back into any and all old content for points.
old dungeons and raids and professions have a lot of achievements locked behind them so as far as I can see there will always be a reason to re-visit old content.

Not even remotely true.

People who like to do BGs as they level are mostly going WoD.

I absolutely would if Chromie Time was available all the time. I’d love to replay old expansions, but properly. With some sense of balance. I don’t want to just steamroll everything. That’s not fun.

There isn’t really anything stopping someone from doing said content. There are plenty of cosmetic rewards, story to see or just something to do.

I see no point to try to create a reason to go do said content. If you want to do it then do it instead of saying hey Blizzard, give me a reason to go there. They already have, it’s called mounts, oets, toys, transmog, etc.

And if your over leveled you can blaze through it or create a new alt and use chromie time to go through it if a mob challenge is required.

I’ve gone through every expansion on different characters just because and I can. Maybe I’m just weird that I don’t see motivation by Blizzard to do so. I just did because I motivated myself and wanted to.

I legit picked Pandaria to level my alts, because I genuinely loved the zones
But I do agree WoW is bad about abandoned content.
Though I guess they did bring Pandaria back a little for BFA?

I see it as being about the same as long range telescopes. When people look at objects a billion light years away, they are seeing things as they existed a billion years ago.

Likewise if you go back to an earlier expansion, you are seeing things as they exited in the earlier expansion.

The exception is if they reused an old site but in that case you can use the time gate to move back and forth between the two time periods.

Called Chromie time.

One thing I noticed, while I was having a break from WoW a while back, was the way other mmos make legacy content valid/viable.

FF14 have daily dungeon roulettes that reward max lvl currency for running random low lvl dungeons through the dungeon finder. It’s super common to see 3 or 4 max lvl players in a lvling dungeon with a new low lvl player.

If Blizzard can make Timewalking dungeons viable for low and max lvl players they can roll this out as a full feature instead of a weekly event.

That would be a start in making legacy content viable for all players.

thanks… he’s taken a downturn again, he’s been refusing one of his medications for a few days.

if he doesn’t start getting the meds and fluid into him soon, i’ll have to start doing subcutaneous injections to keep him hydrated. :pensive:

your meower has very pretty markings :heart_eyes_cat:

i can’t get a photo which shows a true representation of my kitties markings.
he just looks like a “white cat”… but he has silver points along his back, tail, and around his face.

This’d be a good way to ensure I quit.

I like the leveling experience, and I like Chromie-time, and I have no interest in being funneled to endgame any faster than I already am due to the exp rates being so inflated compared to Classic. Endgame and the current expansion is where I feel the most disinterest and lack of enjoyment while playing this game.

No not everyone likes to speed through as fast as possible.

Pandaria is my favorite place to level via quests. It’s gorgeous and the zone stories are great.

That said, yes, the world needs to be updated and used more.

Its a game dude get over it not everyone will like it

I don’t think tying player power to legacy content is going to be a rewarding experience. We already see timewalking be a rush rush rush go go go style of gameplay where devolves into whoever has cool shinnies and procs from previous expansions to pump big numbers. It’s just a big feel bad moment for the newer player to just run behind everyone and get lost or aggro stuff that’s skipable.

Don’t get me wrong, I like that I can occasionally progress my character in content that isn’t sweaty. That’s enjoyable. Evergreen though? Not so much.

Imagine you’ve never seen a Star Wars show or movie. You hear your friends talking about the Mandalorian, and you’d like to give it a try. Should you be expected to watch every single Star Wars thing from the start until now before you watch the Mandalorian? Were those other Star Wars things gathering dust because you haven’t seen them yet?

The past things will always be there for when you are ready or want to experience them, regardless of how many people have already done it. I actually think that’s pretty cool.
