So just a quick question because I haven’t had a chance to pick apart the starter experience for Dracthyr yet…can anyone think of anything they need coming out of the gate?
From here they seem to be in the same position Death Knights were in in the beginning in terms of (turns reverb on) UNLIMITED POWERRRR (off). And even though they won’t be in that chair forever, they can probably be lumped in with DKs and Demon Hunters as a “prestige race” who is just fine thanks and can be left be. But I thought I’d ask the group.
There’s a reason I don’t raid except when absolutely required for mandatory questlines or for mogs from 3 expacs ago …
When it’s your very first mmo, and the “casual” guild you joined as your very first tells you “go PUG until you’re worthy”.
I never see any guild advertise in chat (or on the forums) with something along the lines of “we’d rather train you from the start with a lot of friendly support than have to break your bad habits to make you fit the team.”
I wonder why that is? Because, I mean, if I had a REAL guild that’d be high up on my honey-do list. It’s pretty much the short definition of ‘community building’.
Please do. He’s busy trying to find al the things he needs to man his little patch of the Gnome Run tomorrow and it’s not like I can remember anything I used last year.

ADDENDUM (11/7): Everybody lived through this year and the tents were a great addition especially when it started raining. Two things:
1.) Participation seemed to be down, I assume people who were interested were just doing it on other servers.
2.) A LOT of participants were on mounts. I didn’t know that was an option!
….yes, you need to start panicking about the holidays but more importantly
DESERT BUS FOR HOPE IS HERE!
Here’s the setup: every year, seventeenth most popular Canadian flatulence-based internet comedy troupe [Loading Ready Run] agree to play the very worst computer game ever invented, do challenges, auction off interesting mechandise and so on for as long as you throw money at them. All in the service of raising money for charity. They’re your monkeys - the more money you donate, the longer they’re held prisoner by the bus. It usually goes about 170 hours. Not all of them come out of it sane. Poor Ben.
The Child’s Play charity is what this is all about. Supporting a network of over 180 hospitals worldwide, they’re dedicated to improving the lives of children undergoing treatment in the hospital with toys and games. Child’s Play also supports domestic violence support facilities and aims to provide opportunities for positive engagement, distraction, and play for children in domestic violence shelters and advocacy centers.
The game they’re playing is pretty simple: you drive from Tuscon to Las Vegas in real time - a trip that takes 8 hours - in a rickety bus that pulls to the right. If you make it, you get 1 point, turn around and have to drive back. And they stream this. For a week. It’s like a cry for help, interspersed with dance parties, skits, baking bread (don’t ask) and of course, torturing Ben.
If helping children or torturing Ben sounds interesting, you can find more information at the desertbus event website.
