I’d love if the infernal became a permanent tank pet for destruction, TBH. I have my green fel fire unlocked, now I need a green felfire pet to tank for me =P
TBH I kinda disagree, and I play an unholy DK pretty often at that.
Deathknight ‘minions’ are just mindless corpses, there doesnt need to be any interaction, naming, etc.
However, I’ve been saying for a long time now that apocalypse needs to be removed, and turned into a passive that summons a ghoul/skeleton for 15 seconds whenever you spend a rune. The whole point behind unholy DK is having an army of the dead serving you, and right now our only ‘army’ is on a 7 minute cooldown, or a mini-army on a 1.5 minute cooldown.
If the ghouls/skeletons were constantly summoned in a passive manner, similar to demonology warlocks with their wild imps, it’d really give you the feeling of being a commander of the dead. In place of apocalypse as an active ability, I’d like to see more DoT abilities added, maybe blood plague and frost fever could both be added to unholy spec, and a way to spread diseases through groups of enemies quickly.
To me, unholy DK should be all about plaguing an entire group of enemies with multiple damaging and debilitating diseases, and then fighting up close and personal with the backup of a horde of undead minions.
It’s literally an option on character creation for a demon hunter to add demonic traits to your character to make them look more like a demon. Warlocks draw power from demons, but demon hunters transform to become more like them on purpose. Metamorphosis makes way more sense for demon hunters.
In the fel fire quest line for warlocks even the other warlocks react with disgust when Kanrethad aims for metamorphosis for that matter.
I know how things are. I’m just saying the way things are is pure nonsense.
Here’s some WoW lore:
“Whatever the case, willing or not, a creature is transformed into a demon when its body is saturated with fel energy.”
-Warcraft Encyclopedia“All creatures who use the power of fel magic, willingly or otherwise, slowly take on the appearance of demons.”
-Dungeon Journal, The Maker
That’s lore. Anyone who uses Fel Magic should go demonic.
By denying Warlocks that characteristic WoW spits on it’s own lore.
Two minions out does not an army make. Also, cosmetics and lore are two different things. You’re saying they should equate. Thats like saying ingame mechanics are representational as lore. A cometic option for a minion doesn’t break the lore nor does creating content like a quest for a new minion skin. One could easily write some retconned lore about the shattering of the veil between the dead and the living affecting the sentience of one’s ghoul or geist. It would be no more nonsensical than anything they’re slopping on the plate.
Exactly, when I play my unholy DK I want to have 5-6 ghouls following me around tearing things up, but right now we only get that very rarely with cooldowns. Commander of the dead and all.
Some other posters have mentioned that they will be entirely reworking the summoning undead minions issue to re-include this ability for frost and blood. I have no idea how that will play out. Remember, each ability removed from this class was due to the crying of other classes(ret pallies, frost mages looking at you) about pvp class balance. Now this is no long an issue with the strict division of pvp vs pve via WM.
The only problem is that hunter pets dont have the same utility. Being able to quickly discern between a warlock having a succubus out or a felhunter is a big deal.
edit; with that being said I wouldnt mind if locks got skins that changed their pets colours/armor/etc
A pet transmog system has been a pretty popular idea for warlocks. Also we could expand the demons to other dark creatures due to the fact that some of the Black Harvest has looked past demons for their power.
I think getting void creatures like a void terror would be pretty fun especially if you are a void elf. Undead might work if they could figure out a way to not step on Death Knight toes. If they can figure out the undead it’ll be the closest thing we get to a proper necromancer.
To end off with a tiny personal request is to change the classification of the Shivarra from Succubus to Felguard.
Honestly, screw our pets. I wish theyd give us the old grimroire of sacrifice back that increaded all our dmg by 20%, and made Chaos Bolt do an additional 25% of its dmg over 3 seconds along with giving us an ability from the pet.
It’s simple:
If it’s tiny and throwing fire, it’s an “Imp”. So you could have Imps, Fel Imps, Gan’args, Wyrmtongues, etc, all on the “Imp Family”.
If it’s a girl on a revealing outfit, it’s a “Succubus”. So you can add all sorts of Succubi, Fel Succubi, Shivarra, Aranasi, etc into the “Succubus Family”.
If it looks like an Elemental, it’s a “Voidwalker”. So you could add Void Revenants, Void Gods, Voidcallers, Felflames, etc to the “Voidwalker Family”.
If it’s a monster, it’s a “Felhunter”. So you can add things like Felhounds of all sorts, Observers, Void Terrors, etc. to the “Felhunter Family”
And if it’s a soldier with armor and a weapon, it’s a Felguard. So you can add Felguards, Wrathguards, Mo’arg, Fel Lords, etc. to the “Felguard Family”.
ya that wouldnt be so bad really
All DK specs had the ghoul originally, but it was a cooldown/limited duration summon for frost and blood.
We need to be able to buy demon pet skins on our locks. So then they can have different tank/dps/etc demons.
Honestly i would like to see the Fel lord as our regular pet, even if he replaces the Fel guard, he is more intimidating and looks WAY better. Also, we should we able to control for a short amount of time Annihilan or Nathrezim (they might be too big for a permanent pet).
You’re right. They have more. Hunters get a soothe, stun, heal, and a kick with the same pet out.
At least more skins.
I wish every demon in game was put into a category, or “family” of:
Ranged (Imps)
Anti-Melee (Succubus)
Anti-Caster (Felhunters)
Tank (Voidwalkers)
Champion (Felguards)
Then enslave demon could be used to tame them, and whichever type of pet you choose to summon, will use the model of the last demon you enslaved of that type.
So it makes a ton more sense for a demon hunter to use demons own power against them in the form of metamorphosis than it did for warlocks too have that. Demon Hunters were stuck fighting demons day and night so it would only seem logical for them too take some of that power too fight them. Now I agree warlocks should have a metric ton more demons at there disposal than they do.
You’re not a hunter.
