The Venting Lounge

Oof. Can I vent about the middle 80% of this thread? That was rough.

For me: People who think any QoL change is inherently an improvement. We can all agree Vanilla is great, but a few QoL changes could make it better… No!

I heard you were a huge supporter of LFD and LFR implementation for classic

I get annoyed when nobody offers popcorn before starting threads like this.

“Take OSRS for example” heh

People coming up with small one off scenarios that the game needs to change to solve. The whole chicken little trolls get stale fast.

I see these pop up a lot with the peeps against right-click reporting. Paranoia level 11.

I’m happy that loot trading got changed to raids but the same paranoia was involved in people crying about ninja looting cuz of it.

Loot trading is no different than a master looter or reserve runs. Both of which were hella common, especially during pre-BiS farms. Joining a guild and making trusted friends would have negated loot funneling anyhow

It wasn’t a big deal, either way. Which is why Blizz was able to compromise on this one. And now everyone is stoked! They’re smoothe, you know.

Truth man. That’s why this topic title is so nice. No click bait or chicken little style title…

[insert w/e here] IS GOING TO KILL CLASSIC.

waiting for a legitimate iteration of your favorite game for 13 years > choosing not to play at all because X reason.

You haven’t threatened not to play due to sharding, RcR or 1.12 AV?

The threads people start once an hour that start with “I’m all for no changes but…” and the entire thread is about a change they want.

Absolutely not… I still play retail a little bit if that tells you anything. I knew we weren’t going to get a true 1:1 of classic because it’s literally impossible to replicate people not knowing things. I support classic no matter what because classic deserves to be given to the masses again.

My primary “vent” is about casual players…

Some of them run from thread to thread bragging about how slow they’ll level, and interject themselves into leveling efficiency threads to try and tell everyone interested in faster /more efficient leveling how wrong they are. Like a damn vegan voluntarily going to a steakhouse to tell people about veganism.

Others make my vent because they talk about making changes that fundamentally are QoL handouts directed at casual level players. This part actually covers a wide wide range of “requests” seen over the past number of months. These players fail to realize that vanilla really wasn’t some casual player’s paradise, that their proposed changes have massive impacts on the game as a whole, and that this is the exact kind of short sighted selfish QoL mindset that infested and is killing the retail version of this game. Especially tilting when many of these players also go out of their way to brag about how little they plan on playing at all, yet still feel entitled to everything in the game, even if it’s not made for them…

Issues I’ve seen that qualify : tier 0.5 early, longer than two year server lives so people can continue progressing through content they didn’t earn the right to do, no honor decay on the pvp grind, outright purchasable HWL gear earnable over time, p2w things like a purchased early access, server sharding ever existing, modern mob tagging, requests for a dungeon finder, transmog, achievements, meeting stone summons, soul shard stacking and Xrealm tech on bgs…

It’s all disgusting QoL garbage that has no place in the game.

But they are lesser beings. There is no debating that. :sunglasses:

You get some love for just being honest!

It has been going since the forums were a thing. The current mega thread cools off and then it starts again. Cools off and so on.
Usually once the latest hot topic has become old news the gbank discussion picks up again.
How much of those threads have you actually read?

Here on the new forums? I’m avoiding it. On the old forums I read a fair amount and responded a lot, but it’s the same old stuff.

Lol. To be fair at least 1/3 of all gbank posts are from one anti- gbank poster. Old forum and new. Lol.
To be even more fair a lot of that repeat discussion was from him running the discussion in circles. Also people popping in randomly and spewing whatever that had already been talked about.

Aight this is gonna be a long one.

  • People who take 20posts to agree on the semantics of the first post.
  • People who believe everything they’re told by developers and streamers alike without taking 20sec to think about it.
IE: correcting bugged texture is attention to detail now, not just that: correcting bugs.
  • People who extrapolate quotes to unimiginable lengths.
  • People who can’t understand that from a business point of view some things aren’t possible: I’m looking at you full progression server and no loot trading apologists
  • People who don’t understand that Blizzard also has an image to keep: allowing people to go off with all the golds and onyxia scales, delaying a guild’s advancement (that can have for consequence people quitting) might be against them if there’s no mechanism to counter it, as it might also not be, that’s why discussion could be allowed
  • People who say that having the option to see them differently will ruin their immersion, even if they don’t know who even sees them in updated graphics.
  • People who are against a graphic toggle in general, and shut people down about it, even tho the technology is most likely there and it won’t affect their experience (and could make the servers healthier in general).
  • People that can’t even do a google search before saying that someone is wrong.
  • As stated in the previous posts, people who use #nochanges without any kind of argument, as if that was contributing to discussion.
  • People who jump 10horses, 3kodos, and 4mammouths in the correlation and start saying that “it means you want LFD and flying”
  • People who forgot that discussing is the goal of the forum, and that people can disagree with your opinions.
  • People who forgot that private servers played a good part to bring Classic to us.
  • People who laughs at Paladin or any other classes builds from private servers because armor values and resistances are a guesswork, when the way to optimize consumables/DPS stays the same. Having different armor values on bosses won’t change the fact that warrior/rogue/hunters will still hit the same keys (even if not at the same timing for warriors), and doesn’t change the viability of the talents, it just get the dps lower or higher each boss compared to pservers.
  • People who think that TBC shouldn’t happen when the petition that was signed and brought to Blizzard to have official legacy servers concerned all legacy servers, not just Vanilla.
  • People who think that if TBC happens Classic Vanilla will disappear for some awkward reason
  • And finally people who would rather have a change for the 0.01% (or just 2guys) then the rest of the players enjoying the game as it will be.

Well I guess that’s enough venting for now. :whale:
