The unthinkable: Worse than WoD

BfA has always been worse than WoD in terms of everything except for Artwork.

The 3.0 number isn’t from “game journos,” it’s the player reviews.

You only have to look at some of the metacritic reviews to realize just how poor they are in terms of presenting facts. Here are a few gems:

Critics 79 ??? corrupt officials. 3/10 The worst, unfinished patch to WOW. It is a patch, not an addon.

It is heartbreaking for me to see what happened to the game of my youth. While PvP has been dead for a couple of expansions, RaiderIO and logs finally ruined advanced PvE. Nowadays community is quite toxic and would rather roast newbies rather than help them to get better.

Yeah you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t take user reviews on metacritic seriously.

Ahhhh good, ignore the entire rest of the post. Well done.

A+ debate skills.

Look, another person who either didn’t play WoD when it was current, or is wearing rose coloured goggles.

You, of all people, want to talk about facts? As you spout and proclaim your opinion as such? What a joke…

Yeah, me, of all people.

None of what I stated earlier about WoD and why it was bad was an opinion.

Not even close. Imo 8.3 looks amazing.

Man, WoD wasn’t the best expansion either, but atleast in WoD, it was better being played than BfA.

  • Our class design didn’t suck as much
  • PVP was quite fun, and we even had PVP Vendors
  • Raids were nicely done, and felt pretty good.
  • We didn’t have this stupid artifact system
  • We didn’t have CRZ or Sharding in the current zones. Though yes, it was still there and CRZ/Sharding is pretty annoying to deal with in general
  • Ashran was better how it was in WoD then being re-released as an Epic BG.
  • There was plenty of friendliness towards our alts.

After all, Quality =/= Quantity

What was it, something like “nothing to do at end game”…

You completely ignored PvP, which is widely consideres better in WoD than BFA. All you did was ramble about your opinion.

No, it was worse, because during WoD classes were hacked to pieces and lost many of their abilities that they had in Mists of Pandaria. Sure they balanced what was left rather well, but one of the biggest criticisms during WoD development and launch was the massive prune that Blizzard inflicted on every single class.

Most folks that I know who raid in BFA feel that the raids in this expansion are also nicely done and feel pretty good, with the exception of Uldir. Basically every raid from 8.1 onward is fantastic.

No, we just had a mandatory garrison system that everyone -had- to use, even if they wanted to craft, there was no escaping it, and if you weren’t using it and grinding your champions so that you had the perfect combinations for the high end missions, you fell behind.

There is a reason why Ashran was called “Trashran” by the vast majority of players who touched it. It sucked.

Not really, especially if you wanted, for example the legendary ring, which was basically mandatory for all your alts, meaning you went through that unskippable grind multiple times every time you wanted a new alt.

It’s a review score from players, the rest of that post was irrelevant. The player opinions speak for themselves. If you want to “curate” the individual reviews themself, go for it. I have no interest in doing so just so I can tell you what to think.

Oh the irony! That is one of the biggest complaints about BFA is that the prune went too far. The difference is, Ion actually ADMITTED the BFA prune was too much.

The BFA prune was too much because we didn’t get any new abilities. We just lost abilities, and we didn’t have many to begin with because… yeah WoD kind of took away a large chunk of them.

We were from having multiple pages of abilities for each class/spec to basically having only 2 pages in WoD, and then Blizzard pruned that down even further in BFA.

We actually lost less abilities in BFA than we lost in WoD, the difference being that yeah, we didn’t have that many to begin with going into BFA, so it stung a bit more.

No.

Devs are not forced by players you disagree with to take actions you disagree with. They are free to do what they want to do. And if their actions coincide with something some random player or players wanted, it’s a coincidence, not proof that 2 random players out of millions forced them to do something against their will.

A reason why WOD was better, yes.

There was class pruning in WoD, but there was even more class pruning in Legion and BfA. WoD Class Design is a lot more closer to the class design in MoP than the Class Design today.

Uldir in my own opinion, is the only raid I enjoyed this expansion. Every other raid this expansion has been feeling pretty awful. And this is going on terms of class design to why they feel awful.

Man, I wasn’t much of a fan of the Garrisons, but I wasn’t forced to actually use it. And on the topic about crafting, professions are even far more worse in BfA then they were in WoD.

The Legendary Ring was so easy to get, you could’ve gotten it fairly quickly. And the story with the Legendary ring was also pretty good.

EDIT: Oh, should I mention also one of the best things about WoD compaired to BfA:

NO LEVEL SCALING OR ITEM LEVEL SCALING!

I really miss the days of having actual character progression.

Ehm kinda contradicting yourself. This was supposed Battle for Azeroth, Horde vs Alliance. The story of BfA is so half baked and rushed because all of you complaining about no big bad to fight. So they moved up NZoth to BfA because you all kept whining for it. Im not blaming Blizzard for this, this is all thanks to the playerbase.

Ive been trying to figure out how they’re even buy I’m coming up short on answers to justify an equal response.

WoD wasn’t fully pruned yet and even though I enjoyed legion redesigns far more(mainly because of the artifact) the current iteration of classes feels lacking compared to WoD.

Ashran PvP and gearing was far superior to what we have now. We had vendors, end of story.

Mythics, mythics in WoD were fun, brought in fool BoA trinkets, and we’re far superior to the stupid M+ system, I mean Diablo rifts, I mean M+, I mean…
