The more I see long requested features to the game get added, the more I feel like the chances of seeing playable Horde Ogres goes up.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but we have been slowly seeing a lot of highly requested features in WoW get added, several of which have been features that Blizzard wouldn’t budge on. Wow Classic is one of the biggest features, and recently, housing was officially announced.
There continues to be claims from Blizzard that they’re listening, which makes considering feedback from players pretty likely. Of course, not all feedback gets addressed, but to be fair, some feedback does get addressed and even implemented.
As such, I feel like playable Horde Ogre chances may be slowly going up. I certainly don’t see them as an impossibility, even with two-head customization options. We’ve seen complex races like Dracthyr get made still, so I’d like to think that Ogres would still be possibly in the context of WoW’s engine. Not to mention the multiple considerations of making Horde Ogres playable before, both confirmed and alleged considerations, as well as Metzen back and being in a higher position also helps those chances.
And as I’ve said before, if playable Horde Ogres become a thing, it’s going to be a huge marketing boom for the game. A long await race, female Ogres being a thing, and a (hopefully) working two-head customization option is going to spread like wild fire over the internet, being something that could get close to when the internet broke when Minecraft characters were announced to be playable for Smash Bros. Ultimate. A lot does depend on what the Alliance would get, of course.
So while I do want to temper expectations as we go from expansion to expansion, I do feel more and more that playable Horde Ogres aren’t quite the impossibility. They aren’t guaranteed of course, but the chances seem to rise higher as we see more and more popular feedback added to the game.
As such, I do think it’s important to keep at it with requests for playable Horde Ogres and other races we want to see playable. You never know if such feedback will get noticed and be under consideration in the future.
I will say if playable Horde Ogres ever become a thing, it will be a huge relief from the long march of support we’ve been doing. But we Ogre fans are a determined bunch, so we’ll just keep marching as best as we can. Some of us have been waiting since WoW was in beta, and we’re tough enough to keep going after 20+ years of the game being out.
We’ll just keep at it the best as we can and hope for the best. ![]()
