I will. Thats a great idea actuallyā¦ I hadnāt really thought about doing thatā¦ Iām fairly new to twitterā¦ Wellā¦using it anyways. Iāve had an account since likeā¦ a year or two after it was a thing.
In a recent interview with Brian Holinka by MrGM, it has been confirmed that weāll be seeing Priests, Mages, and Rogues available for all currently races in patch 10.0, aside from Dracthyr:
This makes me think that we could see this apply to future playable races as well. I assume it could be on a case by case basis, but I think itās a pretty good sign of things to come in the future. As for Saurok specifically:
Rogues would be a given.
Mages were a class some people were wanting, and there can be justification for Saurok Mages before (raiding Mogu treasure vaults and gaining artifacts and spellbooks, for example). Iād say we have even more reason to have them now.
Saurok Priests did kinda exist in a fashion, and with all current playable races getting the class, I still think it is a possibility for them.
Iām thinking Iāll add this on my list of things to add to the main post of the megathread when I update date it. Speaking of, Iām wanting to find a time to actually sit down and revamp a few sections. It has been way too long, mostly because of being busy IRL and planning out a megathread takes a lot of time and energy. Iām going to see if I can do an update real soon. Any constructive suggestions on what to revamp or add would be appreciated!
As for the news itself, itās a good sign to see new race/class combos. Iām still hoping weāll see Death Knights available to future playable races, as one of my Saurok characters I want to make is an Unholy Death Knight. Hopefully, that will be a possibility someday!
Made a few edits to the main megathread post. Iāll be looking to revamp some sections gradually.
Some restrictions were announced with making Dracthyr characters, listed below:
"-Initially in Dragonflight, youāll be limited to one Dracthyr Evoker per realm.
-The only requirement to create your first Dracthyr Evoker character is to have purchased Dragonflight. Youāll be able to create this first Dracthyr Evoker on any realm.
-Subsequent Dracthyr Evokers can only be created on realms where you have at least one non Dracthyr Evoker character at level 50 or above."
The one Dracthyr per realm is because of the Evoker being a hero class of sorts. Was frustrating to hear this, as I had my Dracthyr names reserved on two realms, but luckily, a name was open on my connected realm, so I managed to secure it.
I imagine restrictions would open up in the future. They did for Death Knights and Demon Hunters, though I canāt remember how long it was for that to occur.
Itās a shame Dracthyr can only be one class. Especially with the restrictions of a hero class affecting it, as I have seen others wanting to make multiple Dracthyr characters. I am hoping that a race only being one class wonāt be a trend going forward, as it makes new races a lot more interesting and less frustrating for people to make characters of said race.
Luckily, Saurok would be able to be multiple classes. Which is good, as I have plans to make a few if weāre lucky to ever have them become playable.
I was hoping they wouldnāt be doing the restrictions. Just seems super needless to me.
I think there are legitimate reasons why they restrict hero classes at first. One of the reasons Iāve seen cited involves bots and getting higher level characters immediately. Granted, they do have to get through the starting area for them, which most are much longer than the allied race/Pandaren DK starting areas. Iām not really sure on the specific reasons in general, myself.
Iām just glad I was able to secure the name of one of my planned Dracthyr to be on my connected realm. I didnāt even realize that Evokers were being treated as a hero class, granted the evidence was there.
Hopefully, it wonāt be restricted too long for those wanting to make multiple Dracthyr. I do think the whole race feeling restricted in many ways is a bit frustrating. I suppose it can make them feel more unique, but maybe weāll see some things change as time goes on from Dragonflightās release to future expansions.
The WoW mobile game is set to be revealed on May 3rd, 10 AM Pacific:
I realize it is being developed as a mobile game, but I saw that Diablo Immortal, also a mobile game, is actually coming out on PC as well:
Sounds like Blizzard is open to putting games on both PC and Mobile, which would be a good move IMO. Memes aside, I actually donāt have a phone, so it would be helpful to have it on PC so I can check it out there.
Under most circumstances, I donāt really play mobile games. It doesnāt help to not have a mobile device, but even then, Iāve never really liked how full of microtransactions they tend to be. Weāll have to see how this Warcraft mobile game will be and whether itāll take an approach like Hearthstone did for some aspects of in-game lore and characters.
In terms of Saurok, I donāt expect much if anything at all out of it. If we see any, I suspect theyād likely just be enemy mooks of some kind youād have to beat up for reasons. Still, if there is any appearances by them, Iāll be sure to report it here.
Granted, if they are to ever be playable in any fashion, Iād prefer Retail WoW as top priority. Preferably on the Horde side of that character creation screen.
While looking around on Twitter for Saurok stuff, I came across a really neat art piece someone made of a Saurok character as a member of the Bilge Rat pirates.
It was created by the user named Wavorn the Blue Steward and uploaded to Twitter on March 3rd, 2021:
Itās a really neat art piece with a really cool looking scale pattern. It seems like the Saurok we saw in BfA, the Bilge Rats ones at least, made some fans. Myself included of course!
We didnāt get a Horde Saurok allied race in BfA sadly, but maybe weāll be lucky in the future. I know Iāll keep hope!
The fact we saw so many in the pirate themed content for them not to become an Allied Race would be a real shame. They clearly have an explorerās heart and wish to travel beyond Pandaria as well as want more to life than just being in a tribe.
We need Saurok and Sethrak.
The new Warcraft mobile game has been revealed. Trailer is here:
Gameplay reveal here (new footage starts roughly at the 1:40 mark):
It seems to be described as a ātower offenseā type of game from different websites.
More info and screenshots are in the following Wowhead article:
āWarcraftĀ® Arclight Rumbleā¢ is a mobile action strategy game set within the Warcraft universe where collectible Minis come to life to battle in frantic melee skirmishes. Play in multiple modes, including the single player campaign, going head-to-head in epic PvP battles, playing co-op, and more. Experience the true meaning of joyful chaos!ā
Interesting thing to note is this part:
ā-Build armies within 5 playable families: Alliance, Horde, Beast, Undead, and Blackrockā
It looks like from the screenshots you can mix and match some of the units, which would be good to make your own custom army of sorts.
I didnāt see any Saurok, but it could be possible they can be units you can use for your army in this. Itāll be something of interest to look at for the future. Granted, when I supported playable Saurok, I was moreso supporting them for Retail WoW than some mobile game. Ah well, maybe I can form my own Saurok army in there someday to fight for them joining the Horde.
It does appear to be mobile only for now, which makes some sense given the type of game it is. At some point when I actually have a decent mobile device, I may check the game out. Granted, Iām not a huge mobile game fan, given a lot of them seem to be filled with microtransactions that turn me off from them.
Something to keep an eye out for potential Saurok research. If there are Saurok in there eventually, maybe weāll see some of those ideas implemented in a playable variety in Retail, if weāre lucky to ever see playable Horde Saurok someday!
And maybe I could make my custom army with my favorite races. Saurok and Ogres included, of course!
Happy May 4th, also known as May the Fourth be with you!
I thought I would celebrate the day with some more Trandoshan talk. If youāre interested, I made a post about them in general, with some videos, and as a playable race in Star Wars Galaxies here:
I thought I would share a few more videos for fun to share on this particular day. Always helps to get some Saurok idea inspiration from other lizardmen races.
This is another video that talks about different aspects of them with some notable Trandoshans discussed and different types and designs shown:
Trandoshan Jedis do exist in general, though there are not a lot. This video talks about it:
And another video about why the Wookiee and Trandoshan donāt like each other:
As I said before, Trandoshans do have a lot of neat themes that would work very well with Saurok. Iāve talked before about how hunting could work very well in a Saurok society, and while the Trandoshan society is a bit extreme in that regard, itās still an interesting one that I think would work very well with Saurok. Obviously, Saurok wouldnāt be on the extreme side of savagery, but they would be someone you wouldnāt want to mess with.
I hope everyone into Star Wars has a fun, happy, and safe day. May the Fourth be with you!
May the 4th be with you.
So much this.
Transoshan, as you say, take it a bit far but I love the idea of Saurok being excellent hunters.
Iād have preferred saurok to the derpthyr. Theyāre both reskins of existing models but at least saurok would have had access to mogging and would have had more than one class.
Fair points I thinkā¦
I really donāt like the Dracthyr being limited to a single class like that though I think I get why they went that routeā¦ just wish theyād given them a tank spec at least as well.
Saurok would be one of my favorite ARās if they add them. Canāt wait to have Sissko go on his world wide hunt.
While I am excited for Dracthyr and thinking on it some time after they have been revealed, they donāt quite scratch that itch for an actual Lizardmen race. Especially since they are dragons with a humanoid form as well as being more dragon-like than reptilian, if that makes any sense.
I know Blizzard mentioned wanting to have playable dragons in some fashion for a long time, which goes with the rumor of a playable dragonkin type race being considered during Cataclysm. Dragons are also pretty popular, so seeing a playable dragon race of some sort is understandable from a marketing point-of-view. It is a cool and unique concept.
However, I do think it is a bit limited in many ways. The dragonkin form not wearing a lot of armor and only being able to be the one class are a few big reasons for it. Still, I am excited for them and look forward to making my Dracthyr characters.
As I said before, I donāt think it would completely bar Saurok or Sethrak from ever becoming playable. Moreso since there is a huge difference between them. Itās like comparing apples to oranges and pears. Theyāre all fruit yes, but theyāre completely different flavors and other features. If anything, I do think it helps to open doors when it comes to designing playable Saurok and Sethrak is various ways, as some things from Dracthyr could be applied to them both.
There is a part of me that hopes that Blizzard doesnāt consider Dracthyr the āDefinitive Reptilian Raceā and would never consider adding in others, like Sethrak or Saurok. Itās silly to think about, given how different the three are and considering how many flavors of elves and other races we have, but it is a concern that such closed-minded thinking is possible. Iām hoping that isnāt the case and that theyād be open to adding in Saurok and Sethrak as playable races someday.
I have been thinking of a post to type up regarding the differences between dragonkin and lizardmen races in general to help show how there are big differences between them and also to show how unique Saurok and Sethrak would be compared to Dracthyr and each other. I think itās important to get that established so we can help keep the door open for all three possibly becoming playable races someday.
To be clear, it wouldnāt be a post complaining about Dracthyr at all. As I said, Iām excited for them. Itās just not quite what Iām looking for in terms of a lizardmen race, and I just want to show that Saurok and Sethrak would be awesome playable races together and still bring unique experiences and storylines. I also wanted to show what makes a Lizardman race a Lizardman race compared to a Dragonkin race. Thatās all. No complaining included. I promise.
Honestly, the more reptilian races we have on that character creation screen, the better in my opinion. More variety is always good, and Iāll still keep at it for playable Horde Saurok support as best as I can.
With a new month comes my monthly routine of submitting in-game feedback of races I want to see playable, along with references to their respective megathreads. If youāre interested in doing this for races you want playable, I made a small guide on how to do that in-game here:
With the upcoming UI changes in Dragonflight, I donāt know if this process will change at all. If it does, Iāll be sure to make a new guide on it.
I donāt know how effective it is in the long run. Hopefully suggestions are something that get looked at and can bring people at Blizzard to look at our megathreads with an open mind as opposed to someone briefly looking at the suggestion and scoffing before deleting them. Still, itās something that could potentially help bring in awareness of how awesome playable Horde Saurok and other races would be.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained I suppose. I still need to consider other avenues to show off playable Horde Saurok support as well. Suggestions are welcomed!
Twitter!
Best I got right now. Lol
Having a twitter account promoting the support of playable Ogres and Saurok for the Horde has been one of the top things Iāve been considering. Apparently a lot of WoW related Twitter accounts can generate a lot of followers, though I assume a lot of that depends on the content of said Twitter account.
Granted, Iām not entirely sure on what all to do with one. It isnāt like there is a constant flow of Ogre and Saurok news and such. I could refer to some posts in my megathreads if they warrant such a thing, though I donāt know how often Iād be able to do that and have it be meaningful.
I know others have āpokedā Blizzard employees on Twitter, though speaking only for myself, Iām a bit uncomfortable in directly contacting them. Iād prefer to have anyone at Blizzard look at my megathreads from either seeing it discussed somewhere, coming across them here, or even from the in-game suggestions I do. I feel like Iād be annoying if I directly contacted them on Twitter and Iām not really wanting to be all in-your-face about it, much as Iād love to bring my megathreads to their attention.
Still, Twitter is something Iāve heavily considered. But as I said, Iām not sure how to utilize it in a meaningful fashion. Iāll be thinking on it some more, though.
Any other suggestions on other media and such to promote playable Ogres and Saurok on the Horde are welcomed!
I made mine long ago but made a second one for WoW related things so I could look at void elf stuff for my thread. I kinda use it to promote a few AR threads and customization threads. Butā¦
This. I donāt like to and I just feel like Iām bothering folk who have more pressing concerns.
The āTwitterothā groups also seem a tad volatile. So thatās something to keep in mind.
I recall seeing one person who reported and speculated on WoW news recently giving up tweeting on WoW related stuff since all the followers and fame were a bit much for them to handle. A shame, but definitely something to consider.
Understandable. Whether you agree with what Blizzard is doing or not, it takes a lot of effort to create things and implement them in WoW. I donāt really want to bother any employees, myself, and Iād be surprised if anyone there wanted to talk to me for whatever reason. Iām more about trying to generate interest in general and hopefully have someone from Blizzard see our support with an open mind.
It may or may not happen, but you never know. I at least have fun doing what Iām doing, which is also just as important as maintaining support!
Sometimes after a long day, you just need to find a good branch and relax on it.
I imagine some Saurok doing just that in some of the branches near the waterfall in the Tauren area. Seems like it would be a good place to have a pool party and relax after a long day of questing!
Maybe a BBQ pool party, while weāre at it. Summer time is quickly approaching, after all!
