If that’s the case they drastically misread Alliance player’s views on Alleria. Alleria herself, High Elven Heroine of the Second War who was kicking butt, taking names, and hating the Horde from moment one? Absolutely loved. Alleria the Void Goddess? Very iffy on.
that thread exists but does not fully encompass the request for high elves. The silver covenant is definitely the largest group and the forefront of them within the alliance but they are lacking overall in the various themes of high elves.
A unification of all the various groups as a new faction and perhaps even a new government for their race is the ideal outcome and would provide the most options in terms of customization.
That changes the request from, “We want to play this faction in game.” to, "Make us a brand new group.’
Which increases the likelihood that we’ll end up in exactly the same place.
Not really. We are not asking them to come up with new characters out of thin air. We are asking them to not limit high elves to the silver covenant.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind the Silver Covenant being our playable faction, especially if they end up recruiting High Elves from other settlements all across the Alliance at the same time.
I think it’s our best bet to get what we actually want out of this.
They also essentially represent the High Elves in the Alliance succinctly. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t represent the Quel’danil elves, the 7th legion, etc.
It also really effectively narrows the debate and makes it obvious to the developers what we’re asking for.
Hey, I’m all for our playable High Elves to be based in Dalaran. Pre-existing assets for a home already and what not. Blizzard can put it somewhere, open it to the Alliance, etc… Most Horde players are sick of being forced to use Dalaran.
If high elves from other groups join the silver covenant is it really any different from what I said? They still become unified just under one group instead of forming a new group that takes interest in all of they viewpoints and needs.
aye. If they put dalaran back in its’ crater as an alliance only city and have it be the home for high elves I would love that.
Alternatively I am also fine with a new elven district being created in stormwind that represents all 3 elven races and has a newly built headquarters for the silver covenant.
There is also the option to update and expand on one of the lodges.
The most unlikely of all though is the idea of making northern lordaeron/greenwood a new zone and the high elves reclaiming dawnstrider harbor in it.
There’s a inaccessible zone north of Stratholme southwest of the Ghostlands that was never used. I personally didn’t want it, it’s too close to Quel’thalas and would require ton of unnecessary work, and nobody is familiar with it or probably care about.
I still want a exclusive hub for the High Elves, like every other allied race have, preferably phased out so only High Elf players can visit it, like every other allied race hub, and may it be better than a floating rock.
Edit: I just realized that you were talking about that zone, ops.
personally I hate that allied race hubs are only accessible to them. Is it really so hard to let anyone of the faction go there? It isn’t like ironforge doesn’t let draenei into the city.
Those hubs are design in that way, i personally like to have them closed because so much places are overcrownded and too many are already accessible to everyone. Having a few limited places like garrisons, class halls and allied races hubs feel nice and fresh.
Some people talked in a thread about race exclusive hubs for a future expansion similar on how the class halls worked, i would like that, but in a gameplay and design perspective it would be pointless and dumb.
I hope so much that they do that if they plan to update Stormwind with new graphics and assets like those on the new portal room, it’s beatiful. They did a large update on Orgrimmar in Cata while Stormwind was pretty much the same, give the Alliance capital some love Blizzard.
Aye. I want all the capitals updated but for now I would settle for org and SW.
The way I imagine it is it would be behind the mage quarter with the official entrance being in it while a smaller entrance links around the cliff to the new park district.
I would also increase the size of stormwind’s harbor even if most of it is just essentially ships docked their for aesthetics. This is supposed to be the primary base of the alliance navy (at least before the return of kul tiras). It should reflect that. There should be a proper defense fleet guarding stormwind.
Aside from that they could along with the new portal room add in ships going to various places. In an entire old world update I could see a ship going to the exodar, to auberdine, and to the reclaimed southshore along with the already existing ships to boralus and borean tundra.
Well, the one above is a blood elf with blue eyes and the one below is a night elf mutant.
And basically they would be night elf with blood elf skins.
And the earrings that this Void Elf is using are not avaliable to players, nice…
Personally I would have introduced Void Elves a bit differently. They should have been High Elves who travelled to Outland with Alleria. I would have had them transformed with Alleria during the encounter with L’ura. I would have also allowed them to keep their High Elf skin outside of combat, just like Worgen can appear human. Tattoos like Alleria’s would also have been optional. This way Alliance players get the High Elf fantasy while not stepping on the toes of Blood Elf players.
That’d be slightly more acceptable, but still wouldn’t deliver the High Elf fantasy Alliance has been looking for since the very start of the game, before the other Allied Races even existed at all.
