The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I’d like for them to keep their identity really.

Exactly. You would still need to make their model close to the Thalassian one, so it isn’t changed enough to be lore-breaking, but you could still tell that it’s someone from that race. The faces would need to be similar, though I think that’s basically it.

Everyone’s got their own reasons, of course. What draws one person to High Elves may not necessarily draw the other person to them. Same goes for levels of acceptable compromise. - some people really want the Blood Elf model, while others are happy with a different/unique or altered model.

That being said, from my observations at least, the vast majority of people who have posted their support in these threads seem to be on board with the idea of a different or altered model if necessary. The whole argument that we just want blue eyes Blood Elves is just completely false.

What’s so special about the face I wonder?

I think it would be cool if it were to be more round and less angular than the Blood Elves. Talendrion drew a rendition of it that I thought was perfect.

I personally want High Elves to basically be a mix of Human and Blood Elf aesthetic. Rounder faces and thicker midsections. I would actually prefer the human animations on them too.

The ideal thing would be to essentially have half elves baked into high elves as options. A lot of people agree that half elves are essentially fully assimilated into alliance high elf society. It wouldn’t be far fetched to say most high elves have some human blood in them. The important thing though is that the racial name must remain high elves. if they make it half elves then a lot of people will be unhappy.

If you wanted to be that pure high elf you could but there would be a vast array of face and hair options to reflect mixed human blood ideally as well as the war paint and tattoos of rangers.

I would personally love that idea.

Half-Elves and High Elves together would be amazing. (to me)

It’s not really that special. Still, just like their bodies, it would need to be similar.

(lol new forums are weird)

But agreed, I think that overall we can most agree on is that we want the High Elf fantasy first and foremost, we really don’t see many people being “BE Model or Bust” sure, a lot think it would make the most sense to just have the same model, but I don’t think many people treat is as a dealbreaker.

IMO, the model is the least relevant thing. I enjoy the BE model, but for that… I just play on my BE’s lol.

IDK why this alt was posting, New forums are INDEED weird lol.

I sort of view that as something of a stretch goal. I mean, in a perfect world, that’d be what we got, but we also have to be honest with ourselves and keep our expectations realistic, as well.

If, for some reason, the stars align and we get High Elves, then great. If we get Half-Elf style customisation, even better, and I’ll be buying a lottery ticket because it’s one hell of a lucky day if we get something like that.

But if we just got High Elves without the extra Half-Elf stuff, then I’m hardly going to complain about it.

Dropping in to say I support High Elves.

Wishful thinking I would 100% agree, but it’s hard to see Blizzard baking Half Elves with High Elves in terms of customization. Like at best I could see Blizz going for Half Elves, giving them a name that is not Half Elf (Silver Covenant Elf?) and have options that make you look the most High Elf possible?

But yeah, having Half and High elves baked into the same thing would be awesome, I just don’t see Blizzard doing it.

Arator could have an important role, too. He could be the Umbric of the Half-Elves :stuck_out_tongue:

I was thinking arator could found the high elven order for paladins. all the races have their own paladin order so I see no reason to exclude high elves.

Thank you! I would say the reason is that while we can say body mass and stance are a matter of lifestyle and behavior, it’s hard to have a good reason why the faces would be different? Like, they could just for differentiation’s sake and I do think that’s enough, so IDK. I really don’t have a preference, only that the model is easily readable as “elven”

I mean historically speaking, the High Elven Paladin order was just the Silver Hand.

I can live with them giving void elves customization like high elves. I was hoping for Celtic Templars by using the Silver Covenant but I’m not sure they’ll do it now sadly =c

Man, thanks to Ythisens and his team for making sure this thread made it through the migration! High Elves forever!

IMO the issue is that Historically there hasn’t been a High Elven paladin order. Could happen? Yeah! but it really hasn’t been something that has defined their culture neither on the past nor the present, so it’s pretty nebulous to talk about High Elven paladins. Sure they exist, but they haven’t been a part of High Elven identity so anything that could be said about an HE order of them is highly speculative.
