The Unfortunate Racist implication of Human Exceptionalism

Theres constantly being disappointed by blizzard, but then theres making up stuff to disappoint yourself. Which alot of people in this tread seem to be doing, I wonder if I am actually in Earth B’s timeline, and I played a different wow from what some of these people are saying. Or maybe they arent as into the lore as I thought.

Maybe we all need to lower our standards to be as nonexistent as yours kat?

Literally not what I said, sure if you dont like the story hate on, hate they took the sylvanas evil path sure fine.
Start complaining about how imperialistic anduin is now I think your crazy.
Sorry I rather people complain about the actual story or game’s issues rather than headcanon

We do, you just have no standards of quality.

So not wanting people to make up problems that dont exist, is having no standards of quality? Umm Ok

I’ve no clue why anyone would be “dedicated” to the story of world of warcraft. Dont berate people about their “low standards of quality” while spending all this time complaining endlessly. You’re setting yourself up for failure and just seem really unhappy for the low quality of a fantasy land story.

Because that is attracted much of us to this universe. Warcraft used to have and still has some unique takes at races and tropes that is a godsend in a genre pandering to the lowest quality denominator via grinding up the corpse of J. R. R. Tolkien and snorting off the breast of a prostitute with Tourette’s syndrome. It has been a steady decline in quality starting in Cataclysm which fell off a cliff in BfA. A lot of regular lore posters are concerned, but Blizzard has been mum about the entire thing. CDev exists, but is silent. And then in the Lounge people are posting about the lack of communication from the Dev team that has occurred since Metzen and Ghostcrawler left. Blizzard has a serious problem in which lore is a part of that could affect the WoW’s lifespan and since they’ve gone into corporate damage mode has only worsened.

Its become rather clear that outrage is the only method to get a point across.

So you’re solution is to write up an essay about how your delicate sensibilities have been harmed, in a game called world of WARcraft people are divided up by species and fight each other. How NOW it’s a problem and blizzard is evil and racist because Jaina has gotten a lot of attention this xpac and the elves arent leading the alliance? The story in this game revolves around one character. YOUR CHARACTER. The pc. The side cast is a revolving door of one personality tropes meant to get you from raid to raid, dungeon to dungeon. Sure I’ve come to love and care about plenty of characters besides my own. I loved when Shandris killed Dreven through his shield, screaming about avenging her fallen sisters or when falstad tosses the storm hammer at Nathanos to finally shut that guy up a moment. But you all act like nothing happens in this story ever if it’s not a circle jerk around Anduin. This mellowdrama is too much.

Anduin actually didnt have that much screen time at all this xpac.

…Alcohol and peer pressure was involved.

But the entire point of this vodka-fueled rant was in the effort to save a buck or trashy writers thinking they were giving a “unique take” at an not-so unique genre was catering to the lowest denominator, which has unfortunate parallels to some older, more archaic tropes that were remodeled and branded “acceptable” because the lesser beings had pointed ears or were from another planet.

So why the hell does my night elf DRUID give a damn what some sheltered humans who live in unnatural cities think about? Honor? Please. The “alliance PC” storyline is only comparable with Eastern Kingdom races that have a Lawful Stupid bent to most of their classes. So tell me why any Night Elf, Draenei, much less rogue, druid, warlock, Demon Hunter, or even a Death Knight gives a flying damn about when Anduin or Jaina thinks about their smoothbrain logic outside of “hurr durr, Sylvie is trying to fight some BS super-evil boss we invented at the last second.”

sylvanas is also trying to kill nelves draenei and all those other things.

For reasons that make no sense, for a character that makes no sense, in a plot that makes no sense. Hard to be invested in it.

Why would a non horde player care that much why sylvanas is killing alliance, like literally no real alliance player was surprised she would do something like the burning. It always made sense to me, and other alliance players that are less invested in the story would need even less of a reason

You really think that?

You think that in this expansion, which forced us to follow Jaina and Saurfang as they solved our problems for us, in this expansion that is more NPC Focused then any other?

You may have had a point in Legion, but not BFAm BFA is focused on NPCs.

Looking at the ending next patch he is right, champion of Azeroth

He wasn’t vindicated given the fact that the “proof” was ultimately of his own making.

To those of us on the SF, this is a pretty commonly known point, but I raise a counterpoint:

Where, if ever, is what he did ever mentioned within WoW itself? Any player who starts playing WoW tomorrow is going to have the impression that Durotar is a sand-blasted rockpile and always has been.

It was pc focused when I killed ghuun. When I bodied rhastakhan with my pals. When we Merced Azshara. And even more so when I kame hame ha blast N’zoth. The lore in and of itself is after the fact justification to get you from one theme park ride to another.
