The overwhelming sentimentality of people I’ve seen APPRECIATING twinks goes against your statement here. Even in Stratholme when the twinks get MCd and wipe the group has done nothing but result in laughs and it’s made the community more talkative. Even if I can concede the scaling being absolutely scuffed right now, but that’s what makes it funny.
Die mad. It’s people like you trying to gatekeep fun that makes Blizzard make crappy decisions.
This right here is why people love it, and speed levelling their alts for the umpteenth time,
The only way they can “remedy” this is if they fix their scaling and fix Chromie time. I hate the current system because of the whole “you get weaker as you level” and as someone who’s been trampled in 2-3 hits in chromie time by non-elite quest “boss” objectives, it takes the wind out of me.
I had 2 nicely geared twinks for timewalking before this patch, using old favorites like the legendary MoP cloak, Azerite neck and gear, etc…
They took a lot more work to setup, and existed at a much more reasonable power level where others could still contribute.
They were more enjoyable to play too.
Changing to chromie time scaling for timewalking made level 11 twinks the new go to. They are easier to setup and deal 100 times the damage of old timewalking twinks under the old scaling system. They are also more boring to play.
Chromie time scaling is it’s own problem that has been killing off new player retention for years now. You literally get weaker as you level up in WoW. Mobs take longer to die. Some quest elite kill you in 1-3 hits suddenly when 10 levels ago they were one shots. Mobs take 3 full rotations to die when 10 levels ago they died in 2 hits.
The entire purpose, gameplay loop, feedback and addiction of LEVELING UP in an MMO is to GET STRONGER.
This hasn’t been true in wow in a long time.
Fix chromie time GAME WIDE. Let us get STRONGER while we level.
Until then I will just play my 11 Fury warrior in timewalking while being showered with praise by players who almost unanimously enjoy the fast leveling.
If they ban my level 11 fury from timewalking, then I won’t participate in timewalking anymore and people can enjoy longer tank queues and slower runs.
So what happens when a Twink turns their experience on, queues up, enters the dungeon, then just teleports out and turns their experience back off, then teleports back in?
We already do this to get around weird queue bugs related to having experience off.
It’s not an issue in PvP because if you leave you are gone and have deserter. There is no mechanism to temporarily abandon a battleground like there is for dungeons.
Laughs as the Seed of Corruption explodes in you then quickly casts max Agony, Unstable Affliction, Haunt, Curse of Tongues, Horrify, Shadow Fury, Phantom Singularity then finishes you off with a barrage of Maelific Ruptures
Drains your corpse of its soul with Nasserin’s Soul Gem
This is something that the likes of Asmongold has said and I will parrot his statement on it being detrimental to gameplay.
I’ve played many other MMOS where it rewards levelling and you feel like you’re progressing, rather than going backwards in a slow decline.
Unfortunately I don’t see this getting fixed unless we go back to a “chronological” method of questing/levelling— which in the longrun would benefit new players interested in story so they know WTF is going on in the lore. I’ve lost track of many friends I’ve tried recruiting into WoW, losing interest in the lore (and by cause and effect: the game itself) because it’s all over the place.
