Quite the exaggeration; Gamergate is here! If someone is in disagreement that doesnāt automatically make them gamergate evilā¦ iāll explain why.
Thing with gamergate was, you had two sides doing the wrong thing, the journalists colluding in their own secret chats, and so called āgamersā not understanding how to conduct themselves in state of disagreement.
In the end, yeah, āgamersā were on the wrong side of history. Gamers didnāt call out the bad actors. If one was sending abusive messages on twitter none of them put that person in check. It turned into a snowball of abuse.
If they called out the bad actors, and excommunicated them from their side it would have demonstrated they arenāt all about hate, but instead they turned a blind eye to it all and that led to them losing out in public opinion.
Anyway, it is good how the gamergate thing turned out. People need to conduct themselves properly if they wish to be listened to. If we start accepting messages from groups sending death threats and treating their opposition less than human we may as well start accepting the demands of terrorists.
I am sure some terrorists have good messages, throwing away human decency to send messages aināt the way to do it.
