The thing that tilts me most about aff/demo pvp in BFA

It’s that the specs could be great and competitive with very minor changes that have no impact on pve.

A) Darkglare makes your dots immune to dispel.

B) Tyrant is instant cast and immune to CC.

Why does blizzard let certain specs just rot and fester for an entire xpac when very simple solutions are available that don’t hurt pve at all?

I don’t get why other specs have powerful cool downs that can press and instantly start pumping but warlocks get shafted with CDs that are so absurdly easy to counter they might as well not even exist.

therein lies the problem

affliction is not supposed to be a spec centered around cooldowns. it is a rot spec. buffing or adjusting its cooldowns in any way will not help it whatsoever. it needs consistent damage and pressure, not burst. the only way to fix aff is to shift power out of darkglare and into baseline dot damage, or remove darkglare altogether (which i would love)

Sure, I’m talking about BFA though. There’s no chance they’re doing that before 9.0.

I’d love for aff to be a rot spec, but until then it’s a CD spec and blizzard should have just applied a bandaid fix to hold everyone over.

The fact you need 6-7 globals to get a good glare off in arena and it can be countered by someone pressing dispel one time is just insane.

Demo is weird because you can “kill” their cool downs

Just dps the demon and poof, all their burst is gone.

It’s strange. I think the tyrant should be immune to cc, have like 300% more health, and possibly be melee. That way you can’t just step behind a pillar every time he tries to cast at you

Affliction… well. That spec is just a freaking dumpster fire in pvp. Super clunky and gross. It feels awful, and has way WAY too much setup, all with zero dispel protection.

It would be cool if haunt was a debuff that made dots undispellable

I have never seen anyone kill a tyrant in arena. Why even waste damage on it when you can simply cc it/run from it?

is there even a way to salvage the current design of affliction in order to bandaid it though lol

the spec has so much obvious ramp built into it and so little consistent damage outside of dg, simply including dispel protection isn’t enough to save it

I’d argue that if darkglare made dots immune to dispel you could blow people up.

Aff actually does serious damage with glare up.

I ask the same questions when I see locks banish my Fire Elemental even though I wasted a talent slot picking Primal Elemental. Lol

Fire ele is not even close to as relevant as glare, Tyrant, or infernal. Warlocks literally do not do damage outside of CDs and ele has some of the highest damage overall.
