The terrible maths of the M+ loot nerfs

No-one will grind 9s for crests, because both the end of dungeon rewards and GV rewards are identical to a 7. So we not only have a higher grind, but they have also brought back dead key levels.

For all its faults at least S4 of DF had an increased reward at every key level.

EDIT: I was wrong, apparently the new aspect level crests only drop at 9 or higher… so that’s another way they have made gearing worse…

The change to myth track levels does nothing but timegate gearing more.

Who actually enjoys that?

Does anyone here actually like it when blizzard disrespects your time?

Let’s put this into a real world example, shall we?

Say you work 40 hours/week for your salary. Then all of a sudden your boss tells you that you are now required to work 80 hours/week and you aren’t getting paid more.

Does that sound like something that is reasonable? No it’s not reasonable in the real world and it is also even more unreasonable in a video game that we play in our leisure time for fun

It is called the BlizZard rug pull.

Give people want they want at the start and then pull it back expecting players to engage in the same way with less reward.

Straight up arrogant and dumb game design.

I just would like to thank everyone here for posting in this thread - the more discussion we have here regarding our dissatisfaction with the new changes, the more likely blizzard will change it back.

Look at the mythic plus affixes - everyone complained about how terrible they were and blizzard actually changed it for the better.

Uh, the new aspect crests will drop from 9’s in TWW to upgrade your Myth Track Gear and since its spammable people will 100 percent do it.

Systemlands wasn’t very alt friendly so they designed Dragon flight to be alt friendly. But they were able to stop the sub losses with DF but now they are going back to the well of anti alts and having “mains” like in the era of BFA and systemlands.

One step forward and three step backs.

Easy wins are something that the new BlizZard are allergic to.

Huh, well I hadn’t seen that, but honestly that just makes it worse IMO. I mean I was wrong about the required key level… but how do blizzard keep fumbling.

I swear to god, even taking bullions out of it, the gearing system in S4 is the best its ever been. Why are they actively making it worse?

Ive acknowledged what you are saying… you want to grind for longer and feel rewarded for it. Im just pointing the absolute absurdity of it and all the horrible knock on effects it will have. We don’t disagree as much as you actively refuse to see the reality of it.

It’s so weird to me that blizzard can make all of these great changes in Dragonflight - receive nothing but overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding these changes AND then change it to be exactly how it used to be when people complained about how much they disliked it.

I simply just don’t understand why blizzard wants to make their game feel worse to play despite all of our feedback.

Are they trying to retain subs? Because doing everything your player base says they dislike is not the way.

He seems to struggle with the idea that a grind should end when people will still say “Yay I have finished” and not “Thank christ I never have to do that again”

It’s to bring mythic plus more in line with mythic raiding difficulty and the changes reflect that. It’s still not 1 to 1 though but it’s kind of a tedious change overall especially for crest grinding.

This is for myth track gear, not hero or champion.

Consider it like the Free to Play model.

They opened the flood gates with S3 and got a lot of people playing stuff and were happy. Now they just twist the knob every patch to go back to the way they want, and sure they’ll lose a couple of players but the amount of new players they got who will keep playing probably makes it worth it.

The only way that this 6/6 myth track gear change makes sense is that blizzard is putting out a purposefully terrible change so that they can change it later and say “we are listening to you.”

There is just no other logical reason for it.

Honestly, blizzard gains nothing from this change except a bunch of cancelled subs.

Maybe Microsoft doesn’t want to manage WoW and wants it to end? Idk

They are treating their customers as a test to see how much they can get away with by dialing things back.

They are testing to see if players will engage the same as before with less rewards.

That is what they are doing might be compared to A/B testing. But it is straight up taking away rewards with increased time investment.

Really? You’re not going to play TWW?

The only thing that is more odd to me than blizzard making these changes are the players who are saying the changes are good.

Like who actually enjoys it when blizzard purposefully disrespects their time?

I value my free time, doesn’t everyone???

I really wish they’d just make mythic raiding reward mog only instead of item level. Then they could have it like in FFXIV where people still do it (Xtremes in 14) but for bragging rights, not gear grinds.

Then the mythic raiders could have their little egos without it making the game worse for the rest of us.

Seriously. S4 was kind of perfect in terms of rewards in mythic plus. Every key level had a higher reward than the last, they had it so no pointless crests (whelps and drakes) were in m+… why did they have to go and make it worse?

But word of mouth spreads which suppresses upfront box sales which is what their business model is built on more so than subs.

Early access, expansion sales and shop/services is where they make money and subs is just a bonus.

The problem is that once word of mouth spreads regarding the M+ changes its puts a damper on upfront box sales, shops and character services, and also subs obviously.

Again, another dishonest person.

No-one here is asking for immediate maximum item level. All we are asking for is for them not to double the already decently long grind required to get to max ilvl.

And the vault, as a reminder, has always been the only way for m+ players to get mythic level gear, and only once a week, so no, beyond the first 2-3 weeks of the season we don’t level faster than mythic raiders.

You have encountered the proxies sent to try to control a narrative. All I can say is that the old BlizZard would be more open to discuss on their own forums using their blue status.

These changes to M+ make it less rewarding and less fun.
