The sky is literally falling at this point

Stop fear mongering. I come here for entertainment not for doomsayers or panic news.

Fear mongering ? I guess people are more of morbid curious than fearful.
I myself had contact with someone who might have the virus … and I really didnt change much of my life for that

I might die tho … who knows … still more 2 days to be sure

Twitter isn’t going away soon. It’s the only real widely used global communication option. FB is the next myspace, obviously.

Nah, instagram, it’s barely used compared to the other two major ones

Instagram is just bumbly grifters hocking garbage and not so hot looking people posting their PS selfies, so yeah. Agree.

Did you get yourself tested? Actually, don’t even respond. None of my get out.

I will say that our city government has told everyone to work from home and avoid public gatherings. The governor of my state says he might cancel public events if people refuse to cancel the ones they’ve scheduled. This includes sporting events.

Get tested ?

I was in the same room with a person who might have covid. I wasnt “shadowmelding” with someone with HIV. lol

They are trying to stop what is happening in Northern Italy from happening here. They said it was just the flu there and carried on. Now their hospitals are maxed out and people are dying.

You folks don’t get it. This thing is NOT the flu as we know it. The whole world doesn’t shut stuff down because of an inconvenience. Don’t be stupid.

We should be shutting stuff down. People should be staying home. You slow down a virus like this by getting ahead of it and cutting off as many contagion avenues as you can.

Oh, trust me. I get it. I work for a Biomed research center.

GL paying your mortgage, your rent, keeping your job then, the US is not set up to just “stay at home”.

Most people don’t even get sick leave.

I worked in the medical industry, I got SEVEN rolling days a year for unscheduled absences, that’s not just sick days but anything that came up, and just being 5 minutes late ate half of one those. Being quarantined would have put me out of a job.

State governments are starting to offer automatic unemployment comp for what’s going on if you live in an affected county and you can’t work due to this.

Not going to help when you loose your job due to quarantine. Unemployment isn’t going to cover your full pay.

Although the situation of some people will be better than that of others, there is really little to do in the case you need to stay at home and you cant keep your job or do the things you usually do.

Does it really worth risking your life for that if it gets to that ?

But if that point is reached, it wont be so soon for you in US, America in general. Europe seems to be the one going first . lol

On that note, I was watching this movie and tracing some parallels.

One of the most similar things is that the people’s behavior and their idiocy propagated more and allowed the infection to go further than any real “medical reason”.

I mean, most working adults have a .4% chance or lower of dying to it, you going to wreck the rest of your life possibly over a .4% chance of croaking?

We’re talking homelessness, joblessness, etc.

Even in Italy they’re deferring mortgage payments but doing nothing for rent.

Aprox 1,200,000 will die this year from heart disease and cancer, will the country shut down because of that?

World wide over 50 million people will die this year alone from all sources and we seem to keep everything running just fine. the flu will just be a drop in the bucket. The world is not ending.

Medical industry is a pretty vague description. I work on a very large campus some of which is devoted to immuno-suppressed patients and clinical trial subjects. 140 hours sick time & 140 hours personal time a year. They don’t want people coming in sick for obvious reasons.

People who work in medical device or pharm manufacture probably have different rules applied.

Plasma industry, medically regulated, really should have better than “7 days and you’re fired”.

But no job should be like that, if you’re sick and you work with other people you shouldn’t be forced to come in to keep the job.

Step 1: Stop using the word “literally” figuratively.

Step 2: There is no step 2.

Bernie Bro?

Just common sense lol, if you have the Flu or any other contagious illness you shouldn’t be out working.

If doing that can get you fired, it’s a problem with the system.

Bernie has some good ideas, and some really bad ones. No one is a great candidate.
