The Silver Covenant should be annihilated or annexed

Let’s just put the fire out in the most direct way possible, and I’m speaking as someone who VASTLY prefers Alliance to the Horde.

The HE dream is dead, so just either manabomb the remainder (hey Sylvanas would be great at this) or have Lor’themar succeed in convincing the rest of the sharp-ears to formally join Horde and call it a day.

This won’t do what you think it will.

i mean, they’ve already shown they value their comfy lives in dalaran over the alliance

At least it’ll send a clear-cut message. High Elves are dead, have been dead since VE, and there’s literally zero chance of AHE ever happening. Not even neutral, make them Horde or make them dead.

Even though you’re posting on a Horde character; genocide is never the answer!

The HE dream never died. It was created in TBC with the Blood Elves, a faction of High Elves.

The Alliance got High Elves through the faction Void Elves.

They’re all the same race. The Helf request is one of stupidity. They want non-Blood Elf plain High Elves on the Alliance that exist with the Silver Covenant. That’s a fair claim but it interferes with gameplay being that the fantasy of a normal High Elf exists on the Horde.

Void Elves are High Elves racially, and the Alliance should be happy with this and probably most likely when Blizzard does the Allied Race customization options in Shadowlands later on we will see a type of comprimise.

We have had the game’s own director go on record stating that high elves and blood elves are the same race. This has been the case for years now. There is no in-game message that could ever be sent that would suddenly make people stop wanting a certain thing. I don’t think we need to start dumpstering lore to send additional messages.

The Silver Covenant became a neutral Faction during Legion.

After Vereesa rescues her sister she leads the Silver Covenant to Trueshot Lodge where they join the hunter class order along with the Farstriders.

A couple of Silver Covenant Mages are seen outside Suramar with Vereesa, yet these are both Neutral to my Horde BE Hunter and Pally. They do not seem to have representation outside of Farstrider Lodge in BfA, so are still neutral NPCs.

The Wrath Silver Covenant, created by the Kirin Tor to keep the Sunreavers contained, were not only Blue Eyed Thalassian Elf NPCs, they were Gnomes, Dwarves, Humans and Night Elves.

(Silver Covenant Elves are still used anywhere pertaining to Wrath, ie: Stormwind Dal Portal, and in Northrend. Outside of these two places they are now neutral.)

Blizzard could also just genocide everything living in Pandaria but not all ideas are worthy of serious consideration.

If Blizzard’s not interested in another ‘Pandaren’ incident (same race on both sides) and aren’t interested in killing the faction divide, there’s no hope. Blood Elves are the Horde (and form more Horde than every other OG Horde race put together), and this would simply finalize and effectively end the discussion. Neither the Blood Elves or Void Elves are going to rename themselves High Elves anytime soon, so what’s the point of the Silver Covenant beside to hopelessly and pointlessly jab at the Alliance wound left?

Just end it and with it any hope for AHE. The Silver Covenant needs to die. Either bloody screaming, or by political absorption.

The Classic dream was ‘dead’ for a long time.

For Blizzard to do such things would be a clear signal of spite. Oh yes, just go right ahead Blizzard don’t do anything out of character.

I’d prefer it if they unified the faction completely. Void, High and Blood-- just make them function as a cross-faction race like Pandas. I mean that is effectively what they do now in terms of how the game plays. Seems a lot of Blood Elves have turncoated to Alliance.

You could at least point at the corpses and say ‘they’re dead’. Literally every last one.

I propose executions with Vereesa turned into a Void Elf. Extra Tentacles.

They ‘were’ murdering fellow High Elves in Dalaran after all.

You’d have to bend over backwards to justify a mass genocide of literally every high elf in existence. The Silver Covenant counts for the majority of their population, but not their entire population. You have high elves in places like Outland and Quel’danil Lodge. Conjuring up some lore event that wipes those guys out as well would require some major contrived writing.

It’s best to just leave them all alone and move on. High Elves are just an NPC race that occasionally helps the Alliance with stuff, just like other NPC races such as the Jinyu, Ogres, and Hozen. We don’t need to execute them all just because they aren’t playable.

Exactly. No need to go the extra mile to piss off a chunk of the playerbase simply because some players are unhappy that High Elves still have the gall to exist, heh.

I dunno, Blizzard could easily lore-in something like a targeted Blight. It specifically goes after elven descent, forcing the NE to treat closer to Alliance standards and neutral HE into Horde arms. Sylvanas gets to spite her origins and possibly even destroy her siblings, and the lore is justified in the obliteration of the faction and race as a neutral entity.

It’s gonna hurt, yeah, but that’s gonna be what cauterizes the wound and either tells them to leave or get with the new normal. This is the WoW fantasy, as much as most despise it. The lore-writers are hellbent on moving in this direction. So stop dangling false hope and just end the pain.

And Aethas Sunreaver joined the Mage Class Hall and is my Alliance main’s follower - does that mean the Sunreavers are neutral all of sudden?

Ha, and Arator is still my BE Paladin’s boyfriend!

My parents-in-law to be!

But the thing is, unless there is a written change during the next expansion (For example, Alleria is no longer friendly to me,) Then the status quo stays as it was. So the Silver Covenant became neutral during Legion, and there has been no shift since, so it stays that was. Whilst Alleria was my bestie during Legion and now she’d probably flay me on sight, therefore her story has changed.

I haven’t read anything about the Sunreavers being neutral, yet I read the Silver Covenant were.

Oh but there was, my dear. Please come to the Stormwind Portal Room and let’s see how warmly those Silver Covenant portal keepers welcome you there

Your misplaced ‘my dear’ gives no strength to your arguement, darling Paladin-looking Mage!

I did say that it was stated that where the Wrath portal was the Silver Covenant are, because they pertain to that expac.

I’d forgotten, however, they are also present at the Isle of Thunder in MoP.
