Yes, they could literally say nothing at all, have a small quest to make one character send you to their same gender partner and deliver something, and people will still call it pandering. The fact some think it’s a default mode for straight couples is a red flag, the only reason that it is that way is because people get upset if same gender couples are shown.
Like newsflash, there are a lot more same gender pairings everywhere in real life.
In what world is that slippery sloping have you paid zero attention to the constant Anduin wrathion threads? Which bromance you mean the one between the two dks who happened to be gay since blizz can’t write two characters of the same gender having any kind of relationship together together without shipping them? There are very few relationships in wow that aren’t adversarial between the same gender that don’t become ships. Flynn and Shaw was one of the few that actually made some sense and both were also set up in game as pursuing other characters. It’s a lot like the Lor Thal relationship that just came out of nowhere and dumped the buildup between lor and lian. Relationships in general are fine but don’t undermine what has already been setup in game to push your ship. If you wanted to do a same gender romance why not do something with Zappy boy who has basically onlt interacted with Saurfang and not with anyone in a romantic fashion unlike Flynn who was quite clearly smitten with Taelia.

Dude, the Warlock and Demon Hunter bromance from Legion was great. The two Death Knights are platonic af and we even had a blooming bromance between Illidan and Velen. There’s also the ancient relationship between the BE and Draenei guys from the Argent Tournament which is also platonic af.
Blizzard always explores deeper relationships within their books. Which is what they’re doing here as well. People wouldn’t even know Jaina was shacking it with a Dragon if they didn’t read the books.
