The Ridiculous State of BG/Honor Farming (Math)

Oh, I see. In the 2.3 patch notes they weren’t talking about addition of DR, they were just referencing what it as it was already existing in the game. Something still seems off about it all. Thank you for explaining it to me!

In my experience back in the day I was able to easily farm the full blue set in a week barely playing. I remember getting like 2500 honor an AV win (could be wrong) now we get like 500.
However, with the hour queues I can average about 1-2 pieces a week.
During HvH weekend I was averaging 1 piece a night. And my buddy that plays Ally right now got his full honor set week 1. So I don’t mind the honor grind its not THAT BAD. It’s primarily the que times that hold everyone back.

Except the simple math behind the grind demonstrably proves that it IS that bad.

Cmon man … patch 2.3.0 info? Not to poopoo your effort, but this is 2.4.3.

You guys can’t simply keep using evidence for your arguments that may or may not be good to get your point across if you’re comparing apples to oranges.

It’s all you guys ever do. That’s why no one ever believes your “proof”.

BIG TRUE

its plenty good enough bub, are you saying 2.3 wasnt TBC? are you saying 2.4 changes made honor exponentially easier to get?

im waiting for your link and not more memories mr gladiator.

definitely wrong lol

so what youre saying is honor is correct

Horde had the same easy road to reroll as well =P

I’m alliance, so queue times are short, and even on my smaller server with generally low ally interest in PvP, I still find premades here and there.

Here’s my take:

-The honor grind is indeed long, but doable. As stated above, Im ally so im obviously biased, but I don’t think its an impossible feat. I would like to see honor buffed a bit, but we have to keep in mind that yes the blues are “meh” now and people are only really getting them bc most classes need resil to not get insta-gibb’d in arena, but in the future the honor grind will reward last seasons epics which is why Blizz can’t make it too easy.

-The crux of the issue is queue times, because most PvPers went Horde. Same faction BGs fixes that particular issue, but it entirely derails population balance which is already skewed towards the horde side on PvP servers. The 48/52 split or whatever it’s at for ALL servers needs to be taken with a grain of salt because a sizeable chunk of the alliance pop is on PvE servers.

-I wholeheartedly believe if blizz gave the alliance WotLK racials early, and opened up limited time, free, one way faction changes to the minority faction of PvP servers, the problem would sort itself out in 2 weeks. The hardcore PvP crowd going for glad every season would swap alliance, which is a small percentage of the overall horde pop and probably entice some of the masses to do so as well if they are popular streamers. Overall though, I can’t see 30+% of the horde swapping when I see “I went horde for my friends, not racials” every damn day in posts about PvP and honor. Currently the somewhat “balanced” PvP servers are 30/70 - 40/60 horde favor. The shift from the 10-15% of the horde pop going alliance to min/max PvP, and overall more desire to PvP from alliance PvE’rs because they have the good racials, would fix the queue times IMO.

No boosting help people make a switch i know 10 people who played ally in vanilla now play horde.

LOL i dont care about ur cringe theory crafting. Blizzard made easy to switch side so people did. Here it is

I did know something I didn’t, but it wasn’t that

Slow Clap.

Nice to see some actual hard numbers. Numbers don’t lie. I agree with everything you said.

Take a successful pvp game:
World of Warships
Nearly immediate queues.
Good balance when premades are introduced
Reasonable time investment for upgrades. Even Tier X ships can be farmed in reasonable time.

Fix this blizzard please.

Says a guy that gets gear from raiding and heroics within a couple weeks of little time played too acquire pve gear. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

It’s quite bad. I don’t know why they left it this way for all of crusade and now they won’t improve it here.

No they didn’t.

Dem quite literally provided numerous fact checked, time stamped, and validated sources but he’s the one that’s getting dumpsterred?

You have yet to provide a single valid source besides, “muh echo chamber agrees with me.” He went out of his way to post numerous sources validating his claim. where as you couldn’t even make a proper rebuttal.

Provide proper information because quite frankly you have nothing to stand on.

You want 2.4.3 evidence? Sure, why not?

30 minute AB battle, 165 honor for the winning team. Uploaded after patch 2.4.3. released:

I mean you’re not the first to link old screens showing bonus honour on a win. I get that, great. As far as I recall in playing my friend and I played AV for honour and other BGs only for the marks. This was due to the sheer number of kills you could be in on on AV vs the others. Add bonus honour on to that and we were golden.

You are convinced it was honour per win being farmed? I remember lots of horde losses in AV in OG tbc so I don’t think that was it really.

Perhaps the rate being given per kill is off then from what it was.

Either way these screens/videos don’t prove anything to me cause I never disputed bonus honour from BG wins. That is zoomer mentality. I stated that if it’s taking people 10+ days played to get a full set then there’s something wrong.

Facts and evidence over 14 year old faulty memories is zoomer mentality?

Goalpost moving, expected. Here are some vidcaps of kills uploaded in September of 2008 (patch 2.4.3 as you requested):

Now before you move the goalposts even further and make the false claim that ranks affected honor, here’s a rank 10 player awarding 3 honor:

I posted this in another thread… but how do you explain all of these:

21 honor solo kill https://youtu.be/ATYThsPHTAk?t=314
19 honor solo kill - https://youtu.be/ATYThsPHTAk?t=787
3x 20 honor solo kills - https://youtu.be/ATYThsPHTAk?t=1100
Player kills a shaman twice in 10 seconds (40 honor) - https://youtu.be/3tAsoPrfT3Q?t=190
20 honor - https://youtu.be/ATYThsPHTAk?t=1235
S3 PVP video 21 honor - https://youtu.be/GJDWMCvu04A?t=142 (21 honor solo kill)
20 honor - https://youtu.be/dIISn3J7pQs?t=121

You get a maximum of 14 honor for a solo HK right now. There is definitely something off behind the scenes.

Actually it is worse then you think.

During Vanilla. Horde had instant queues and Alliance had a wait time on most servers.

The reason being that Alliance was much more popular then Horde.

The real question is how were people supposed to know the Meta would flip 180?

Incorrect. You get 20.9 honor for a solo kill in level 70 vs 70 PvP combat right now:
