The Sunwell was the one legitimate reason (beyond the treason Umbric immediately performed) for banning the Void Elves. Blizzard wants the Silver Covenant and Void Elves as permanent citizens of the no-longer Horde city. Can’t do that if the void elves’ mere presence breaks the Sunwell, so they broke the sunwell, destroyed it, and made it into something lame.
