this is a raiding game. it lives on pve content. if you removed pve content and went all in on pvp the only thing that would happen is that wow would end up so dead it would be f2p with the option to buy a bg pass, and buy access to each individual bg. then it would die. that is reality. most people who play this game do so to slay dragons.
