I went to the timewalking vendor. I got myself to 443. Do I have any idea how to actually play a shadow priest? Nope. But I can now queue for heroics lol.
Heroics are a great place to practice how to play your priest. (Sort of, sometimes things die too fast to actually figure out your rotation)

Yeah not going to lie, you really can’t get a great feel for your single-target rotation until you get to LFR, and you can’t get a great feel for your multi-target rotation until you get to M+. Everything below that just dies too fast.
For the record, I don’t think it’s a problem, because the people who really want to excel in the game are going to do that content and try to improve, and the people who don’t want to excel at the game will be able to do the content they want to do without ever really being great at it.

well Just as personally to help you, make sure you have the talent that links vampiric touch with shadow word pain. As well as the talent that makes all your single target abilities also hit anything with shadow word pain.
Then spread around shadow word pain (shadow crash is wonderful for this) and as long as you are attacking something everything will be getting hit. So really shadow priest is very easy because your single target rotation is also your aoe rotation.

Heroics could be solo’d at 70 with leveling gear at the start of DF

Maybe actually practice in Heroics.
I hear the learning curve from heroic to M0 is pretty steep.
If you are used to rolling your face across the keyboard in Heroics youʻll quickly be dead and probably kicked soon after in the current M0
Anyone who actually cares will look at any number of detailed guides available for any spec in the game. If that doesn’t work just download an addon that will show you what buttons to press until you get the hang of it.
Until you get out of the matchmaking tier of difficulty there’s no expectation for a player to know how to play their character. It’s dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. But as soon as you can get into content with no item level restriction your expected to know everything and all the mechanics you never were exposed to in heroics. So good luck with that.
Heroics are a fine place for people who don’t know what they are doing. Use it to start figuring it out.
443 isn’t high ilvl btw.
That’s really not an issue considering heroic is the “get your foot in the door” level.
