i’ve never bought gold and have 262 legendaries on 3 or 4 characters. so i’m doing it wrong?

It is a problem, not going to lie. At least for those of us who actually have no idea how to make money. My main is sitting at 225/235 depending on spec, and my alts? Pretty much going to be stuck at 190 for the duration.
Never thought I’d say it but I honestly miss Legiondaries.

Yes, that’s my point. To level every legendary to rank 4 requires over 2 million gold in purely vendor-bought Orboreal shards. Most of the i190 stuff is selling for <1,000g on every server. The chances of anyone recouping their money at this stage in the game are ultimately zero, so ultimately, legendaries are a write-off compared to selling the raw mats and not buying the 2,000,000g of vendor mats.

They should have put some catch-up mechanics in for crafters in 9.1.
They gave catch-up to every other form of gameplay there is. But nothing for crafters. 
Instead we still have “sink a fortune into making junk that nobody wants”.

They increased the amount of stuff crafters can gather from each node. I’m regularly getting 12 pieces of ore from the rich nodes, outside of the elethium ones.

Haven’t noticed any difference in callous hides, which is what most of the playerbase needs.
The amount you can get off the broker in Oribos is a pittance, too.

fun and neat crafting has to be one of the easiest things to implement into a mmorpg to keep people entertained and Blizzard puts next to nothing into it, these current devs are clueless.

I think if they gave us a fancy crafting system like, say, Star Wars Galaxies had, that people would complain it was too complicated.

My Shaman is raiding Mythic with a 235 legendary 64 renown and a bunch of 226 conduits, I farmed everything on my main and when I switched over to my alt I just had 0 motivation to do it all again

hahaha no i am one too, don’t worry. maybe they’re just cheaper on my realm
don’t even mention conduits, my shaman is 251 ilvl but still has a bunch of junk conduits!

Well keep in mind that the actual gold sink part of it is the cost the crafter pays in leveling up their trade skill to the point that they can finally make money off the items. And even then it is only a short window of actual profit before the market is flooded and the vast majority of people have already purchased their sought after item. At that point the market price crashes and there is very little profit to be made any more.
Not all gold sinks are just about you losing money.

Even if they didn’t purchase the crafting materials, there is still a lose in the income they could have made off selling said mats. And any crafter that was looking to make money off the sale of the base parts would be forced into buying the materials to level. Otherwise by the time they did it all by themselves the market price would have already dropped and they would have missed the “gold rush”.
225 cloth pants are going for 3g 20s (yes, that’s 3 gold, not 3k gold) on my server so that’s what I got my mage alt.
I did end up spending 25k on 225 ring though.
That is not a gold sink…
There is absolutely no excuse for the cost of rank 6 leggo base items and your attempt at doing so is embarassing.

Clothers tend to be nicer.
The stuff is literally given out. and even a few alts…you can have a reagents tab a sea of clothe stacks even as a casual like me lol.
This I like. LW/skinners…not sure how some sleep at night. This is gimme mats. and its not like well I spent hours doing it. Hell in the 3 animal kill area quests they don’t even have to kill. people leave corpses all over really.
Yes agreed the base items are insanely expensive atm and it really is insane that nothing has been done to fix this. I can’t afford to buy more than 1 legendry for each character I play because I just don’t have that much gold to spend.
Maybe don’t lock them behind instance content though as not everyone does that. Universal things like korthia, great vault extra option, elite world quests etc would be good options so everyone can get them rather easily.
