Community is mostly centred around guilds or groups of people who play together. It is difficult to form a ‘community vibe’ with total strangers in the world. You don’t know them, they don’t know you, so I’m not sure how you think the game would automatically provide you with a sense of social connection. You do that by forming game connections privately - joining guilds, asking questions (and if you are indeed a new player then Newcomer Chat will happily answer your questions) and getting to meet people during play and so on.
There has never been a warm and fuzzy community feeling in the WoW forums. At least, not as long as I’ve been playing. This is a forum for discussion and as such it will often get heated because the players are often passionate about their beliefs and some are not afraid to get, shall we say, angsty in their responses. However I have often come here in the past and asked a question about something ingame that I need info on, and aside from the silly responses will generally get my question answered. Because if there is one thing these forums do have, its a lot of know-it-alls (of which I am one myself frequently 
)
As I have said before, I’ve always felt that the number of truly toxic players is quite small in relation to the total. Its just that they are noisy and noticeable; the decent players just go about their game and are quiet and mostly unheard.

These forums are tame as hell OP, im not sure i understand what you mean by people being ‘hateful’ aside from small troll responses and sarcasm?. This is a moderated forum (cringe, wish there wasnt any moderation), so people will get creative.
No amount of moderation will stop it, people will always circumvent it. They’d have to make this forum unusable for your dystopian totalitarian fantasy to come true, in which case people will just migrate forums.
Get some thick skin, OP. Join in on the fun.

I actually think you just made the guy’s case with this statement. If you dislike people being hateful, perhaps set the example and be more respectful when you respond to them.
forums are notoriously crap. experience in game for me over 14 years has shown there’s both good and bad people. usually just the silent type or folks just trying to play. you get some trolls now and then but that’s pretty much anywhere on the internet with some sort of anonimity.
i agree with this bullys and dert bags know how to Skate the rules and do the little manipulation bull crap
we shuld be free to verbly smack the crap out of the trash holes rather then give them a coddled environment

Why is anti-hero not an option? Considering it’s coming from Harvey Dent it shoulda been: “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain… or you end up Batman.”.

What good would that do? If they are already being a “trash hole” then you attacking them verbally isn’t going to make them say “Oh I’ll be nice I didn’t know other people could do it too” 
The community were always borderline sociopathic. Judging from recent encounter, the community will chip away at your sanity until you’re remorseless and evil as one of them.
Requesting races to play for the purpose of meme status and deriving pleasure from the suffering of other. It’s literally the World of Warcraft community in a nutshell.
That is because the people here ARE hateful. It is a mistake to call it a community.
And people are constantly checking your armory page looking for a fault in your opinion. These folks are nasty.
