Ret is strong but its bottom s tier coupled with arms and top a+ with anything else.

Ret doesn’t go in every comp, its mostly ret/arms ret/rogue ret/hunter. ret/fdk ret/firemage is also played in the glad range.

But ret doesnt define a comp like a warrior, ww, or firemage does

Definitely true… It just goes under the radar because they get to hide it in D-stance much of the time so their damage appears par.
The fact that their damage is pretty average while in D stance is a strong statement in itself that most people seem to overlook.

No, what makes warrior overpowered is that they are very good at everything. Except mobility, which is only true against wizardcleave.

They are ridiculously good at this too, actually.

Its because warriors are cooler and people like cool things.

This one has caught on more widely than the use of the term “privilege” amongst college age girls in New England.

Because, simply, when you bring everyone else “UP” to the broken levels of Warrior, Moonkin, Fire Mage, Rets, etc. you break the game even more. More awesome and more 1 shotty doesn’t make the game better, shawty.

I’d face ret/ww any day over arms. At least those are very one-dimensional.

Arms just has a reply to anything you can do and soaks damage at will while being able to fart out absolutely insane burst in short windows, all while being 99% peel/kiting proof for some idiotic reason.

The more stand out issues I see with warrior could really be fixed pretty easily.

  1. Completely remove the execute charge talent. The biggest offender with this is venthyr obviously but altogether it needs to go tbh.

  2. Warrior damage is too high when sitting D stance all game. Instead of nerfing D stance numerically, they could make a trade off for D stance. When in D stance, you cannot use sharpen blade and mortal strike does not apply mortal wounds. Being able to sit in D stance all game and still have pressure is kind of ridiculous. This would encourage warriors to really minimize unnecessary D stance uptime resulting in dealing more damage, and increasing warrior players awareness over time, I would hope.

  3. I guess intervene needs tuning, I don’t really play melee a lot so it hasn’t seemed super over the top to me, but I believe my melee friends when they say it’s nuts.

A good counter to warriors would be to give ARCANE mages a 5 second disarm on a 30 second recast timer. The warrior could still use defenses, but no “weapon” for major damage.

And don’t put it in the arcane magic school for godsakes.

It seems fair because so many melee classes have a caster counter on 15 second cooldowns that locks me out of arcane for 4 seconds.

what fire mage nerfs do you suggest should be given?

I don’t know enough about mage to make a please nerf statement. But their damage is a bit high and with unlimited combustions it hurts. Probably ask people like Xaryu or Venruki for what needs to be nerfed.

don’t get me wrong enhance is strong. Def beat war / x in 2s plenty of times with enh / x in 2s if the game goes right. But you just don’t have the same utility and if they play correctly you will probably NEVER win outside of some luck.

One thing I really like about how enh is balanced is, as a damage bot, it has relatively weak defenses in some situations (or they are very skill dependent like grounding totem) and it has to worry about mana. This, to me, seems fair if a class has really overturned abilities (heals, burst.).

WW, similarly, has defensive weaknesses. Great toolkit, but has weaknesses.

War just doesn’t have weaknesses other than needing a healer, and even then they are pretty damn strong with a hybrid if played well. That has very rarely been the case for Arms.

Warriors are 8/10 to 10/10 in every category you mentioned and are the best class in the game RN. How they have lasted this long without getting nerfed boggles the mind.
