The nvidia 30xx series main draw for the wow gamer aka you

The rumor is the RTX3060 will have RTX2080 (non-ti) performance for $349. That is keeping in line with Nvidia 30-35% performance increase from previous series to new series the last few series.

hmm, that would be a compelling option. If they are RTX competent, and give 2080 performance, it would still be a minor upgrade over my 5700xt, but it would allow me for the price of the 3080, the buy TWO of them, thereby replacing my 5700xt and wife’s Vega 56, and give those to my kids, and retire both the RTX 570 and 1060 3gb.

People don’t play just wow.

Right now even with RTX I’m unsure about enabling it for WOW. Its pretty basic and doesn’t show much improvement for the high FPS hit. But its there and will continue to be improved. For the same reason DX12 was added. For the future.

I remember this all too well. I remember last year, the 1660 super was being touted as THE 1080p gaming card. I bought the 1660ti because the 1660 super wasn’t available in my area. Though my 1660ti has served me very well for WoW and all my games thus far (I only play at 1080p), suddenly the 5600 and 5700 XTs came out and I knew then that I should’ve went for either of those instead.

I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti. Should I replace it with a RTX?

Rtx 2000 series isn’t worth the upgrade and we still don’t have real world performance benchmarks for Rtx 3000 series

Don’t upgrade until your hardware is not performing up to your desire otherwise you are just chasing benchmarks (and wasting money)

Some of the RTX features can already bring the current generation to its knees especially if you weren’t at the top end to begin with.
