Well according to Blizzard it is the damage meter.
According to various sources however the most downloaded addon is ElvUI and Tukui. And if you add up all the addon categories, Skada and Details! is not even halfway, it’s less than 5% downloaded as the customisation addons are.
Point is, people download addons that change the look of the game more than they do addons that help play the game, like DBM and such.
If Blizzard are really going to add things like Plater as a default option, they need to look into why people even use such addons. Taking away bots and lazy players, there are tons of people who just like to change the look of something to suit them, and then there are those players who make the change for accessibility reasons.
Much like why people use WA’s and don’t use the CD manager, because it has so much more customisation and can help people play the game better.
I just don’t want Blizzard to be making changes to the game or adding things that just miss the mark on why some people use those things to begin with.
You should listen to blizz cuz they got all the numbers , and not the 3rd party sites

Everyone I know has a damage meter.
No one I know uses either of those.
Blizz has actual numbers on all of this.
And there’s a huge difference between talking about gameplay addons as opposed to cosmetic UI addons.

“Blizz has the numbers”
Why is the client phoning home about script usage? That seems like a waste of my personal hardware resources, and a security risk.
Everybody has had recount, skada or details.
Every update must be considered a download then or something because while not uncommon these aren’t as popular.

lol, it’s to make tracking bots easier. It also helps them identify bugs by filtering out those who use Addons and see the issue, and those who don’t use addons and still see the issue.
If you don’t want the game “Phoning home” perhaps you shouldn’t play an MMO?

You do realize data logging is built into the game and always has been? Every single MMORPG does this. There is no security risk. It’s data on the usage of literally everything in the game.

First ‘addon’ Blizzard gave us was the option to customise the UI.
This is also because of the content you play. I’ve had some dungeons where people ask for DPS to be linked because they don’t have a DPS addon.
It’s also a pretty big difference having 300M downloads of various damage meters VS having over 4 billion just between Tukui and ElvUI, not including other customisation addons. And that 4 billion+ are just the numbers I know off, that’s not including the downloads people do straight from the ElvUI website.
