The newer WoW dungeons are bad

I kinda miss Torghast.

Dungeons where trash packs only have auto attack and bosses have 2 mechanics are very interesting.

It’s like every other person commenting about this mentions boss mechanics. It’s more about the design, art, and layout of the dungeon.

I didn’t played it back in Cata, but I liked GB quite a bit in S1, except it was crushing brutal.

Anniversary BRD was pretty awesome, maybe they should do revamped BWL next if they haven’t.

The first thing that comes to mind is Mechagon — in my opinion, the best dungeon in this game.
However, I agree that they should make more dark and truly underground dungeons.

That said, I also really like Waycrest Manor.

As for classic dungeons, they were boring and tedious even when I visited them for the first time back when they were current. At that time, dungeons were actually duller than the open world, so I don’t understand what you’re talking about.

Agreed. They DO need to significantly tone down the retailism of combat though, so much crap happening on the screen you can’t even see 1 inch in front of you; all of that environmental design goes to waste.

When SOD was redoing raids, I was begging for environmental dress ups and new decorations, not more retail mechanics being imported. If Blizzard’s talent pool only consists of retail-slop, Classic+ is doomed. We need the sense of exploration and mystery, something long lost in the retails of time.

Retail slop is there because people want to be able to see dangerous things. Falling over dead for no apparent reason is not fun. People also like that when you hit an important ability something actually happens.

There is plenty of time to enjoy the environment out of combat. 30 minutes of exploration and mystery with nothing happening is not what most people want.

I honestly think nostalgia is a big part of it. Think back to where you were in your life, how new WoW was, and how much you still had to explore. I think if you brought someone in fresh and put the instances side-by-side, they’d find the newer ones better developed and more exciting.

The newer dungeons have themes too, including all the ones you mentioned. The art is better and the boss fights more sophisticated. Many have great stories associated, e.g., Azure Vault with Syndragosa and her son, Dawn of the Infinites with Nozdormu, Chromie, and Iridikron…

Or they want it occasionally for the experience. For replayability, they want fast-paced action and a good challenge.

Make an aging machine to make yourself 12 years old again and the current dungeons will be just as nostalgic as the classic dungeons are to you

Th exploration and mystery have been written into every zone of TWW. You just have to go looking for them. Tons of easter eggs, hidden achievements in odd nooks, lore books :books: of all flavors…

I’ve really enjoyed Azj-Kahet as a zone and for its dungeons. I love the attention they put into the suspenseful ambiance and tragic music :notes: (strings, for the spiders). Art, music, theme, and story all tighter and better-realized than anything from vanilla, plus boss fights that are dynamic and present a fun challenge.

  • Return to Karazhan
  • Operation Mechagon
  • Tazavesh, the Veiled Market
  • Dawn of the Infinites

All within the last 10 years, all better than BRD.

Which are all better now than in vanilla.

I didnt start till 2017 playing the game, so there is no clouding my judgment wishing for the old days…but yeah…classic dungeons just have a feel to them that nothing has been able to replicate.
Not that later stuff isnt good…but its never been the same.

lmao…yeah thats a great big bag of personal subjectivity.
I’ll take classic runs any day over any of those.

I didnt touch wow until august 2017…there is no nostalgia for classic for me…and I still prefer classic dungeons to anything that game after.

This is essentially what they did with Delves.

Also, Waycrest Manor was/is a banger dungeon

The old Classic dungeons were great, if you had a lot of free time.

The tier 0.5 quest chain required you to kill Baron Rivendare in less than 45 minutes…

BRD is a fine dungeon, without it, we wouldn’t have mega dungeons. Scholomance is fine, I like spoopy dungeons.

But Gnomeragan is hot garbage.

I agree with this statement. There havent been any dungeons added that are remotely as bad and boring as these 3, and thank Elune for that.
